New Vader deployment card for Campaign?

By patrickmahan, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Anyone else see he has a different token in the preview picture?

He certainly does. Maybe they just wanted to give the Driven by Hatred upgrade some exposure, or maybe it means something more...

@Quigman noticed that.

Would be nice to see a Vader deployment card with the Driven by Hatred stuff on it.

I don't think we'll see this. If they made a campaign card with driven by hatred, why don't make a skirmish card instead of upgrade?

Sadly i think the main reason here is that the driven by hatred picture is cooler than the deployment one.

I'd love to see a new campaign Vader, but I don't think it's gonna happen...

Like someone mentioned elsewhere nothing prevent you guys from house ruling the skirmish upgrade in your campaign. I do that in my campaign with my group. And if my rebel players disagree I will gain two movement points and perform an attack at the end of the round ?

House-ruling really turns a lot of people off, though.

Like, I think Weiss is overpriced, but I'm a stickler for playing as closely to the rules as I can.

It may seem simple, but I think the argument of "if it's broken enough for skirmish, why ignore it in campaign?" is actually pretty fair.

In a different thread, possibly on a different board, someone came up with the idea that if the mission specifies a character in the initial or open groups, then you take the original character. However if you earn that character (eg. Vader) and bring him as an open group, then you can deploy him with their new attachment (eg. Driven by Hatred).

My group did this with IG-88 in the last mission of our core campaign. I'd like to say it worked out, but Iggy-Pop didn't even get an attack in since the Rebel Heroes were so built up. However it was closer with his 15 health rather than 10.

True, but so does not being able to use Darth Vader, Han Solo, and Chewie :D

I agree that FFG should fix all their broken campaign stuff, but until they do (IF they do) I'd rather have a good experience for everyone than stick exactly to the rules.

Right, and I wouldn't fault anyone for doing so- but I think FFG shouldn't simply assume that house-ruling is an acceptable fix on their end and move on, either.

Especially when these Skirmish fixes are, in some ways, an admission that the original deployments were flawed (for their threat cost at least, perhaps not in initial or reserved groups).
