Grima Decks

By DezzyBassist, in Strategy and deck-building

I see Grima pop up on RingsDB fairly often in the typical Doomed decks, but has anyone tried a different approach to him? How well does he work with Master of Lore?

I have a deck I've put together that pairs Grima with Spirit Theoden and core Eowyn for a lot of cost reduction. Generally run it with an Eomer/Erkenbrand/ Elfhelm deck across the table.

On the master of lore idea, Warden of Arnor just posted a deck that used Grima and MoL together to interesting effect. I haven't tried it out myself yet, but I'm intrigued by the possibilities.

One of my earliest decks was Eowyn/Eomer/Imrahil. It was fun to play triggering Rohan discards for action advantage and attack boost consistently. I'm waiting to get my copy of Treason of Saruman, @Onidsen do you have that decklist posted somewhere?

Im going try your deck @Authraw , how did you counter the increasing deck, or nevermind I see Sneak Attack+Gandalf.

Yeah, sneaky Gandalf could buy me a little time, but I think mostly the goal was to win quickly before threating out.

I was gonna try Grima/Theodred/Bifur, but a guy made a valid point that the line-up probably doesn't need anymore resource acceleration.

Just put extra-pricy cards in it!

What do you mean by "doomed deck"? As far I can see doomed deck are mostly based on brutal threat augmentation with a lot of legacy of numenor/deep knowledge/seeing-stone. I play three decks like this, one who get back to original threat thanks to LoAragorn, another who rely on Nori and a third one who only win fast with a lot of elrond's council, a double back and Galadriel.

I also play two deck with Grima but I don't see any doom shell around him, except for Keys of Orthanc who is more Grima attachment as Vilya is Elrond's, Mirror of galadriel...

I meant Doomed deck in the Sense of LoAragon, Grima, and any third. Ive seem a few different heroes in the third spot. Running legacy of numenor/deep knowledge/seeing-stone to draw heavy and amass resources very quickly in the early game. Then use Aragon's reset when you get a satisfactory board presence.

I actually hadn't published any of my decks yet - they're often in a state of flux as I find more fun things I want to do with them.

But I went over this deck and its partner, tightened things up significantly, and updated them to take into account new cards that have been released (or at least spoiled :P ) since the decks were made. And now I've published them - the Fellowship containing them both is here .
