EPT on Ketsu

By Alabast, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm trying out a scum list with Ketsu throwing out tractor tokens and a squad of Z-95s taking advantage. Push the limit has worked pretty well as an EPT for Ketsu that fits the nice amount of green on her dial, but I've been considering saving points by using VI instead. Though she can't really arc dodge, I figure being able to reposition the mobile arc later in the turn could be a boon against aces.

Do you think the advantage of having the higher PS on Ketsu outweighs the loss of the extra action? Is there another EPT that could work better than both of them that I haven't thought of? I've got Dengar on board for rerolls, if needed.

Expert Handling. You could use the range control to help you trigger Ketsu's ability.

My initial reaction to this was to scoff, but that's actually an interesting a way to reposition her without engine upgrade.

Ketsu gets good value from Snap Shot due to her potential to have two arcs. A hit from Snap Shot would trigger the tractor beam in her title, thereby making the target easier to hit for the friendliest that have the same or lower PS, such as the cheap Z-95s.

Equipping the Z-95s with Thread Tracers would be kind of like having a Fire Control System. Since the low PS Z-95s fire last the target(s) might have used up their tokens and are short on green dice due to the Tractor Beam.

I will try this list out soon. Probably add N'dru Shula (PS 7) with Snap Shot, Guidance Chips, Concussion Missiles and a Scavenger Crane @ 25 pts. This leaves points available for two Z-95s with Thread Tracers.

VI is the way to go imo, with burnout for reposition and a strong initiative bid.

No. Read "Secondary Weapons" on page 16 of the Rules Reference. Snap Shot is a secondary weapon, and therefore only fires from the primary firing arc. Currently there are no pilots capable of using Snap Shot outside of primary arc.

PTL, VI, or Mindlink, for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. My Zs are currently Leachos w/ Deadeye and Concussion missiles and chips (stealing a token to get a REALLY good shot at 4 hits), and 2 Binarye w/ feedback array. Mindlink w/ Ketsu might be a good call, and I'm intrigued by burnout slam to get her back into position after initial pass.

I like Fearlessness on Asajj and am trying it on Ketsu now. Since Fearlessness can apply to either arc (AFAIK) it pays off nicely. However, Ketsu's ability does favor keeping the primary and mobile firing arcs aligned so there might be a lower frequency of Fearlessness coming into play when getting attacked from the rear or flank.
