I've seen people talk about the Executor, but what about the Praetor? It's smaller classifies as a Dreadnought and may be small enough to fit, maybe slightly larger than a Raider Class from X-wing. To me this ship would be great, I don't think it would be OP as it is relatively lightly armed hence not a actual dreadnought, but is tanky enough to fill Centerpiece Role.
Praetor Mk.2 Battle cruiser
Sounds like a good suggestion to me. FractalSponge's model is great. It is definitely a star destroyer, but it is very visually distinct. Size-wise, it would also match up well with the Rebel's Dauntless or possibly Bulwark Mk. III, but it would probably be weird to give the Rebels or New Republic those ships with the new canon. I mean... I would have to make a new case, but there is no avoiding that anyway. :-P
FFG did something more unlikely with the release of the Demolisher, and they are from around the same era (early 80s). It would be cool to see some of this really old Legends material come in. And since Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars, there should be no problem getting the rights.
Edited by KnightcrawlerYyyyyyeah...next release is going to be the Resurgent-class from the 'Force Awakens'-series of movies. Bet on it.
Even at 'full size' it could probably fit into the game...
...although it'd scale down to 11" without issue (IMHO) basically 'splitting the difference' between it's length to-scale with the ISD and the ISD's length, itself.
EDIT: and the real problem with the Executor is that it's well into "ludicrous" size. Truly, it has 'gone plaid'. Neither it, nor anything like it, can fit into the base game. So things of that size are going to need a new game mode ('epic' or 'cinematic' or whatever), new ship base, etc. And that just isn't going to happen for anything less iconic than the Executor.
Edited by xanderfI mostly agree with you, too. I do think we will get the Resurgent, but I think it will not be an unevenly mixed wave; we will get an entire TFA wave, perhaps with a new starter set. And that means we need the new movies to come out first, or be at most 2 weeks out from release. When that happens, the First Order and The Resistance will be sub-factions like in X-Wing.
The executor is so big that it would be much larger than the Raider in X-wing, even if it was scaled down a lot. At that size, I honestly would see it as being part of a play mat, or as a quarter-ship (showing only the left or right and the top), and wouldn't even be held up by pegs. A ship like that wouldn't move during the game, and would be at the edge of the play area.
But for a large-scale OT-era ship, the Praetor is the best bet.
Edited by KnightcrawlerWell Personally, I would rather have the Praetor for it's weaker armament than the Finalizer. So the Rebellion has a way to fight back and is not just screwed. The Praetor is basically a German Tiger with a 75mm from the PZ.4 H, strong Armor but a weaker gun. I would really like Stationing my Commander on the ship, as if it got in a Brawl it would likely come out alive maybe not winning it but alive regardless. It would likely need a Escort though.
