Holy crap.

Everything I could want for the Phoenix is there; a solid yojimbo, decent bushi, bonuses for having shugenja. Then they top it off with a political/high glory focus to make it even sweeter.

I am a happy Phoenix.

I like the focus on going for Glory even if it secretly gives me a new level of anxiety for playing against dishonor. It's very neat to see how balanced and flavorful they made my favorite clan.

Guys I thought I was hyped before. I was wrong.

In my estimation we are missing 5-ish cards from Phoenix, including the alluded to yet not fully spoiled Naïve Student

Welp, it looks like Im a fire chicken for the time being. The amount of nonsense they can pull off is insane.

Tsukune is now currently the best champion, as her ability will always trigger at least one ring.

The "elements matter" abilities are so good its unbelievable. Attacking political air with phoenix is looking to be neigh undefendable, especially if you can get some honored status's.

The ONLY drawback is that the stronghold is usually just a +2 or -2 to a conflict. But seeing as crane was looking like the "Glory Clan" and phoenix actually IS the Glory clan... we will see that expanded. Cant wait to take these apart and analyze them!

All these Phoenix guys are very strong, but it's going to be quite the honor/dishonor struggle to keep them effective. The current deficit of (One, others maybe not previewed) conflict characters is a weakness. Phoenix are leashed to province flips on most turns, more than the other clans we've seen, which might mean small boards of random people who need to be honored over and over.

I am excited to try them out, though!

Stronghold is also boost for Imp Favor, if played on a standing guy.

So have we seen an air spell and I've just missed it? Or are we still waiting for one?

100% agreed except Yokuni is still the strongest followed by Tsukune

5 spoiled shugenja. 6 if you count the neutral Miya Mystic. So with 3x cores you can field shugenja as half your dynasty deck. Yeah pile in the spells. You'll have shugenja on the board for days (especially once the game gets going).

I wasn't expecting the focus on Glory. Phoenix might be even better at honor pressure than the other currently revealed clans considering they kind of need to keep honoring themselves to get full value out of some of these characters, and to protect against dishonor which seems pretty crippling to the Phoenix.

I count 4 (Naive Student, card #86, the phoenix holding which ability is known, card 177)

They have 2 conflict characters (Ishiken Initiate and Seeker of Knowledge).
