Can someone explain to me why bomblet generator on deathrain?

I keep seeing people put it on him but I just don't get it? He's ps6 surely that's a pretty terrible position to be dropping a manoeuvre bomb?

Am I missing something cause I just see it as "just because you can doesn't mean you should" situation

I think it might be because of his ability. It gives him some options to BR freely before moving, even if the bomblet doesn't hit anyone

But he's ps6 and with high ps alpha strike lists being the norm this is a terrible ps position to utilise this to any great effect, front or back , advance sensors or not

to me it seems like wasted points when his ability is Taylor made for action bombs

Having unpredictable movement is still advantageous. With advanced sensors you still end up with people having to guess where you'll bomb, since if they have to BR to avoid it they're still losing actions to that.

No, it's not as ideal as against lower PS pilots, but it still lets him maneuver like an arc dodging ace. And he does have higher PS than the current rebel hotness, which makes him a threat to that (because repeated bomblets is not something that list has answers for).

His ability is still good with action bombs. BUT, they're not infinite use and are more expensive to load onto him, so you can't take free barrel rolls before maneuvering every turn.

Infinite use or not a punisher will be lucky to get one or two, three at a push, before it's mowed down

the "rebel hotness" will chew up and spit out a punisher in one round of combat

all I'm saying is that you seem to be expecting a LOT from a punisher and an arc dodger it ain't

i just think you're better off going for maximum damage with an action bomb

but please fly how you like, who am I to say one way is better than another

I will give it a try I may eat my words

Played this last night

(100)

"Deathrain" (42) - TIE Punisher
Sensor Jammer (4), Extra Munitions (2), Unguided Rockets (2), Proximity Mines (3), Proximity Mines (3), Lightweight Frame (2)

Captain Oicunn (58) - VT-49 Decimator
Rage (1), Cluster Mines (4), Inspiring Recruit (1), Inspiring Recruit (1), Rebel Captive (3), Extra Munitions (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

Won both matches against quad tlt ties and corran intensity Jake and intensity a wing

the look on my opponents face when the punisher tanks damage was priceless

Last night I won a tournament with a Punisher !

OK, just a 10-man friendly tournament with no top tier Worlds-worthy lists but anyway...

I played Deathrain+Bomblet generator+Accuracy Corrector. paired with standards QD and Soontir Fel. At 32 points, I finally found a Punisher build that I had fun with.
