I purchased 2 of the Hammerhead expansions, and I've played four matches so far using my four newly acquired Hammerheads. In that time, I've had two of them have their pegs break off. I handle them no differently from any of my other peg-mounted ships. I've been playing Armada since the day it was released, and I haven't had any of my three CR-90 or three Nebulon pegs break at all. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm going to get in touch with Asmodee to see if they'll replace them. It seems as though maybe the plastic is softer than previous releases perhaps?
Hammerhead Pegs Breaking?
My little man only broke 1/4 of the Hammerhead pegs so far.
IN the same time he's broken 4 CR90s and Neb-Bs.
So I don't know if there's really a point of Comparison.
My Raider's peg broke off pretty quick, so I think it's more that it's just the risk of thin pieces on plastic models. Luckily superglue fixes the issue.
Yea, it'll permanently be on a stand, but it works.
Yeah, just had the kid drop it on the tile floor and the peg snapped. Glued it back, but I will just leave it attached to the clear plastic.
You can drill out the peg stump, and insert a piece of 12 gage copper wire. Glue it, and file the front flat. Works great for everything except the Neb B, those are tough with the peg on the spine.

I was thinking that'd be the easy way to fix them. Quick drill and replace with metal.
just feeling it, it feels like a poor point of contact. The shape of the object and its higher mass let it concentrate force along the peg more than say the Cr90s do. Raiders are actually quite snug. Within their bottom wing. Also I've been noticing I think the HH pegs themselves are slightly too large in diameter. They fit excruciatingly snug in their stands.

12 gauge wire also happens to be "roughly standard paperclip" size in my experience. I have a number of ships on paperclip pegs ![]()
After a bit, i graduated to just snipping and magnetizing, which I like better, but the paperclip takes all of 5 minutes to snip, drill, and glue in place.
I have had several pegs break on GR75s. Rather than gluing them in permanently I do the following.
- Drill them with a 2mm (or was it 3mm) bit and use some brass wire from the Privateer Press pinning kit.
- Glue in a small section of wire to replace the peg.
- File the front part flat to better fit the plastic stand.
- Finally when a half decent fit is achieved give the wire a squeeze with a pair of sturdy pliers to slightly flatten it. With trial and error it becomes a snug, wobble free fit.
I've had a few Neb B and CR90's fit super tight. I just took a little sandpaper to the pegs. Also have taken a drill bit to the stands that were tight on everything. I've only had to fix one CR90 with a toothpick (It's what I had on hand).
I wish I got to play enough to break anything. I'm pretty sure I have a vsd antenna still standing. I set up a game to play against myself 3 days ago and still haven't gotten started. I envy some of you big time.

That's pretty much my situation. My pool table has a topper on it with the remainder of my last game sitting there. I need to fly the new stuff.

If soft it will bend
If brittle it will break
Seems more that the plastic is brittle than soft.
FYI: I bought some 3D print small ship pegs from Mel as spares (Just in case
)

First they bend, then they break. It's soft, then lets go. Thus why I was curious if the plastic was softer than previously used. The pegs on the CR90s and Nebs are fine after months and months of use. The H'heads are lasting days for me.

I stand corrected, Im using the Neb-B/CRV90 foam tray from FeldHerr, the HH fits easily in 3 of the 4 pockets, so I dont need to remove the model from the peg.
Does yours break because you remove the model from the peg when packing for transport?
Or do they break despite the model sitting permanently on the peg, during transport and game use?

Do tell! What is magnetizing?
Do you create a steel base to slip into the peg slot and attach a magnet to the ship?

Most people in this instance are basically just snipping off the Peg entirely, gluing a magnet to the top of the Stem, and another magnet where the Ships Peg was... Perhaps that one recessed a little if possible... But otherwise, its just a straight magnet-to-magnet join.

My ships, all of them H'head and CR90 and Nebs, are all packed in a Plano box. The older ships have been in there for months and months, and see constant use. They're removed from their pegs for packing. I'm just surprised that the H'heads are so fragile compared to the other ships I've owned and played for months/years.
Exactly what Dras said, just a snip and glue!
With minimal extra effort (like all of 45 seconds each) you can drill the magnet flush with the bottom of the ship.
