Build a Rebel List with this...

By Archangelion, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I have the base box set, the expansions of corvette, Friggit, mc30, liberty, home one, and two medium transports.

I'm trying to figure out a good list to go with. I'm open to buying more fighters if I need to in order to make a good list.

Any suggestions would be great.

Edit: I forgot. This would be for a 400 point list facing off against an ISD, Interdictor, 2 Gozantis and 5 tie squadrons (with 1 howlrunner). The ISD has Devistator and Vader combo on it. This build is just for home battles.

Well, first you have to think about what type of list you want to make! Looking at the different commanders you have should get you started on ideas, tell me which one was your favorite, and I'll help you build a fleet!

I like Akbar and Madine. Mothma is ok. I don't have any squadrons other than the base xwings so I feel like a carrier build is out until the old squad packs hit the shelves again.

Step 1: Buy an ISD…

I have an ISD and everything I need for the imperial list. I'm just wanting a Rebel List to fight against it.

Two builds come to mind with those two commanders. An Ackbar List using the Defiance (MC80 Home One type), a Torpedo MC30 with Enhanced Armament, a Corellian Corvette with Turbolaser Reroute Circuits, and the two GR-75 Transport flotillas would be a straightforward build, but you might not have all the cards needed to get the MC80 to live up to its nickname (The "doom pickle"). This list from Cannot Get Your Ship Out would be a good starting point, although from a competitive standpoint it relies heavily on abusing strategic to farm tons of points. On the other hand, you and your friend seem to be new, and those sorts of shenanigans are not new player friendly.

As for a Madine list... You'd want to start with the MC80 Liberty with engine techs. Its role would be to bully small ships and skirmish with large ships from long range and then run away before they can kill it (With Madine+Engine Techs, the Liberty-type MC80 is capable of some very impressive maneuvers that no other large based ship can pull off), which is exactly what real WWII Battle Cruisers did (In case you're unaware, Star Wars space battles draw heavily from the fighter duels and naval engagements of the second world war). To keep the cruiser safe, you'd need a very strong second threat to hammer your opponent's flanks when they make a choice. Two Nebulon-bs, one with Salvation, the other with Yavaris (Luke double tapping is threatening enough by himself with your opponent's relatively light air patrol).

I like both of these list options. I'd need to pick up the imperial command Crusier, heros and villans, and rebel fighters 2 pack, which would run me just under 100 for that first list, but until I get those I can run with that second list idea. Thank you!

Also, I was unaware of the similarities between Armada and WW2. That's a neat bit of trivia there!

@Squark

How about this?

General Madine

MC80 Battle Cruiser(Flagship)

Mon Karren, Major Derlin, Veteran Gunners, Engine Techs, NK Ion Cannons, Quad Turbolaser Cannons, H9 Turbolasers

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate

Salvation, Raymus Antilles, Fighter Coordination Team, Spinal Armament

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate

Yavaris, Adar Tallon, Fighter Coordination Team, Slaved Turrets

Skywalker, 2× X-Wing Squadrons

It was meant as light humor. I'm not a good rebel player, so me offering advise on building the, is rarely anything other than a snarky, humorous comment.

Skywalker, 2× X-Wing Squadrons

This is a decent build. I would do one additional thing and get rid of the weapon upgrades on the Yavaris, it does better activating squadrons than shooting ships itself.

I would try the following:

396/400

MC80 Battle Carrier

  • Mon Karren
  • General Madine
  • Gunnery Teams
  • Engine Techs
  • Leading Shots
  • Quad Turbolaser Cannons
  • H9 Turbolasers

Nebulon-B Support Frigate

  • Salvation
  • Raymus Antilles
  • Slaved Turrets

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate

  • Yavaris
  • Flight Commander
  • Fighter Coordination Team

GR-75 Medium transport

  • Comms Net

Squadrons

  • Luke Skywalker
  • X-Wing
  • X-Wing
  • X-Wing

With the exception of Luke being a really reliable bomber, your X-Wings are better suited to double-tapping enemy squadrons. Also, instead of hunting an ISD directly, take your MC80 and use it to hit small enemy ships with the H9 Turbolasers/QTC combo to punch damage through to the hull. If you roll a natural red accuracy, reroll both with Leading Shots and use H9s to change the result back if you still need it. The GR75 can keep Yavaris stocked up with Comms Net tokens while Raymus rolls his damage at long range.
