Toad king with background.
That's a awesome picture Mr Brogger
Very nice indeed. I especially like how you have kept the look of the original 4th Edition Toads... Looking good!
thank you guys,
I had an idea that could not get out of my head, so now I am working on his right toad hand, having him to hold a scepter decorated with a flie on top...
... see you later!

Okey, now I see it. This is a nice flie, I think it fits in very well. And the idea with the Toad King looking after it is very good. I think we should use that on the back of the card

From his looks, he really want to eat it !
I have removed all demo images of the TK template, if you're wondering what happened to them. Having inserted Mr. B's layers into the master template, I have delivered the PSD file to him. Likely the next thing we'll see in here is how he wants the card to look and operate.

I first saw this message when I was about to show TK with chepter. I have had some problem to recieve the materials, but realy looks forward to get it and make a final look for TK card.
I actually like the TK without scepter better, so he is the one that will be used, but anyway here you got TK with scepter/wand (just for fun of it).
- Just saw that I forgot to have him drop a shadow, but what the heck, this one is garbage anyway.
He looks funny with the wand
The picture is pretty good
I think he is better without it to be honest. There is enough going on in the picture without it.

You are right!
Hey Lasse, got your latest email and there were typos in the URLs I gave you. Check your email for the corrected links.
To everyone... please give a warm wellcome to... THE TOAD KING!
Toad King rule card - front and back
Toad King character card - front and back
Thank you to everyone who have been on this topic and helped creating the Toad King. Special thanks to JCHendee who have helped alot with the card designs and also the wordings.
I think Toad King is ready to take his first hops into the Talisman world. And I hope some of you out there who will use him, also give some comments on this topic of your experiences.
Now we just have to make him availeble for a PDF download somewhere... ( Jon ?
).
cheer and enjoy
Hey Mr. B, about a toad king miniature... have you thought about just painting one of the standard toad miniatures and putting a little crown on his head? You could even do some process pictures showing the painting process so others might be able to fumble along in copying the work.
Like you need something more to do, right?

That is a way it could be done, and I am sure it would work fine. But I was thinking of sculping a new miniature from the buttom. I will make it look like the art and put him on that mushroom too. I will also keep the size of him, the same as the other toads. Also he will be the first miniature, that I will try to replicate, so that others will be able to enjoy him.

Very cool! Looking forward to it!
You might put another announcement in Member Announcements to attract more attention.
I just played a game using the Toad King and it was great fun. He landed on our characters 3 times but all was lucky roling 5 every time
He was especially after me since I had the magic wand and also find some magic objects now an then. He realy got more cracy when one of the other players entered the middle region as well
He also had that effect people would chose to go another direction to avoid him.
We did not play with the reaper since we thougt it would be too munc having two NPC's at the same time. So for the future we proabaly role a dice to see wich one shall join the game. That also gives more game variation.
The game overall - I won with the warrior against minstral and knight

Thankyou guys so much for making this great character! It was a treat to even see how the Toad King came to be, just wish I could see some of the art, there's a lot of broken links in this thread.
I printed out the cards and played a game with the Toad King ( as well as the Ice Queen, good times ) and it was excellent. We all made croaking noises as the TK went towards magic and you bet, people started planning out their moves based on where the TK was. It's like the Survivor hidden immunity idol, you might not ever use it but it's a force in the game. The TK definitly had an impact on how the Talisman story unwound! In fact, players were hesitant to go and accept new Warlock Quests in case they could fufill the criteria right away because the TK was one hop away, or the Oasis having a 2 card draw with the TK in the Warlock Cave was just too risky. He did end up landing on me once while I got a magic object and I rolled loose one object ( after I fated turning into a Toad!! )
We're going to be adding a crown to ours by using a little Lego crown:

Again, great job on making a fun and balanced addition to the game!

Hi Inkblob,
Thank you very munc for this good review of using the Toad King. It is nice to know others are getting the joy of using the Toad King.
Hope to see more like this. The Lego crown is a very good idea as well
Best regards
Mr. B
I don't have your sculpting skills or resources so this will do in a pinch
Did you ever make a figure for TK? I'm sure he's going to be a regular in our sessions from now on =)

Oh, I hear you on that one, 3 ( going on 4 ) kids here... they are old enough to play these types of board games now, but still get a bit teary if things don't go their way ( unlike me of course )
Besides lamenting about our children mopping up our time, I actually have a relevant TK question for you.
We had a situation in the last game where the Wizard encountered another player in the Hidden Valley with TK in the Hills beside. Wizard cast a spell on the player and took a Magic Object, so you bet the TK hopped on over. My question is whether or not TK would have *2* encounters with the Wizard? We played it as one, and poor TK got squished *sob* so it was a moot point anyways. Also what about player 2, who isn't casting any magic, they don't encounter TK right?
What was funny was for the rest of the game when someone went to cast a spell, we automatically went to move him and then all nodded our heads in solemn respect for the squished King.
