Hi guys, I keep you in mind gui%C3%B1o.gif

I had a game for some days ago with my wife and a friend. I will not go into many details on the game. I was so close to win and then I lost llorando.gif .

We had the Toad King wandering around and we discovered that he actually have a big impackt on the game. He is actually guarding 3 spaces, the one he is on and the ones to his side. When he stands on an magic object, it can be very hard not having him encountering you, if you want that objeckt someone has left on the ground. He encountered me two times and both times he took a magic object. I did not dare to use fate due to the risk of getting toaded.

It was a fun game and The Toad King is difenetly a must in our games from now on.

Cheers

Hi Mr brogger,

I wanted to ask you something..

If you can find a manner to duplicate the Ice Queen and Toad king, and everything will turn out good,.. are you then maybe interested to make the special Mephisto characters too? sonrojado.gif

Hi Velhart,

I was interested in sculpting the Mephisto characters and asked Mephisto Magazine for permission, but they are still not sure what they will do with the characters in the future, so maybe we actually will see miniatures comming from them one day. Until now we can enjoy playing with them using the Tokens they created.

By the way, Jon have created an interesting character wich I might put in the range of minitures I am planning to sculpt.

Cheers

Hi Mr brogger,

Oke, that makes it a little more difficult then.

We will see what wil happen in the future then.

I look forward to your Ice queen miniature.

I appreciate it a lot what you do for the fans gran_risa.gif

I have just bought some equepment for casting my minis. First experiment wil be tin.

cheers

Now some more Toad King news. Here is the first pictures of the mould creation.

On this first picture he is put in some kids wax.

mould_making_20100425_1606238592.jpg

After half of him is placed down in the wax, the silicone is filled in. This will be the first part of my two part mould.

Great news that this is underway!

Superb use of Lego blocks too!!

Wow! I can't wait to see how this works out! Never seen custom crafted casting before.

Very interesting. Legos are truly the most useful thing ever invented, along with duct tape and WD40

Here comes the next step in the casting progress.

Here I have removed the lego blocks and kids wax. It took some time getting all the wax off. I also removed a little of the thin silicone parts in the edges of the Toad King.

The Lego blocks are build up again and the silicone mould is put back in. A layer of vaseline is also added - That should make it more easy to take the two silicone parts of each other when dryed.

Now there is filled silicone in to make the second part of the mould. I look forward to see the result when it is dry.

Now for the next step.

The silicone is dry and the Lego blocks have been removed.

casting_20100427_1959955559.jpg

The two parts are seperated and now we have a two part mould happy.gif

I should now wait (hate waiting) about 2-3 days before filling it with smelted tin.

Cheers for now

Groan! Oh, the anticipation!

Now it starts to become something.

Here I have made the mould ready.

And I got the materials ready and do the job outdoor.

Well not 100% perfect, but it is nearly getting there. This was after the third try.He is missing a toe on his right hand, but that is going to be fixed. I am still trying to get it better. It will probably not ever be 100% perfect.

Hope you like what you see so far.

cheers

OMG! sorpresa.gif

That is awesome Lasse! Especially on only your third try!

I can see an army of Toad Kings already! gui%C3%B1o.gif

This is really great, I am absolutely amazed by the result! aplauso.gif

I've kept silent but watch every step unfolding every week.

Mr. Brogger, you are amazing !! Congratulation on this success gran_risa.gif

Now the question is: will they be unpaint or prepaint when you ship them out....

Big cheers to you.

Thank you every one happy.gif I have tried to make some more Toad Kings today, but it won't work very well for me sad.gif I will try to get some resin and see how that will work. I will still keep on trying with tin as well, but it is very hard to get it done right.

For the painting part Old Master - I think I just paint one Toad King and show it here. If it could be of interest for anyone, I might upload some images that shows how I do the paint job.

Cheers for now

Here is the best copies I have done so far.

I look forward to see how resin wil work.

casting_20100429_1404499594.jpg

And of course now you know we're chomping at the bit to each get our hands on one of these! As further testimony, it's THE miniature so far that has captured any interest from me (as I usually prefer standees).

And definitely (if convenient), please share your painting process with us.

Okey, I will show some images of the painting process when I get so far. Do not hurt each other to get these, I have a feeling that resin will work munch better and be easier to work with.

Cheers for now

Painting the Toad King

Okey, so I will try to explain as good as I can how I paint the TK.

Step 1

I am giving him an undercoat of black.

toad_king_painting_20100501_1472288062.j

Step 2

Then I paint him in the colors I want him to be.

toad_king_painting_20100501_1894880319.j

Step 3

Then I apply ink colors on each of the other colors I painted him in. The ink gives the colors a little more depth - makes a little shadow effect.

toad_king_painting_20100501_1311851200.j

Step 4

I paint the brown on his bag and head. On his bag I leave the green color between his abscesses.

I also added color to the spots and strain on the mushroom.

toad_king_painting_20100501_1879859305.j

Step 5

I then use ink color again all over the brown color.

toad_king_painting_20100501_2062040107.j

Step 6

Now I am doing some highligts. I take some colors that are lighter than the ones I used in the start. I then paint on all the surface of the other colors making sure that the darker colors are left in the deep areas. That is what gives the most depth in the figure.

toad_king_painting_20100501_1282314076.j

Step 7

I applay the last of the eyes

toad_king_painting_20100501_1780618887.j

Step 8

It is all done exept that I still need to apply some varnish to protect the colors.

toad_king_painting_20100501_1450854233.j

The Toad King is now ready to jump around in his middle region.

And here he is with some of his minions demonio.gif

Hope this was a bit usefull. Questions are wellcome.

Cheers for now
