The Age of the Dark Mechanicus - New Campaign

By DrgnScorpion, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

Ideas for a new campaign that i'm thinking that involves the Logicians, the Phaenonites, and finally The Dark Mechanicum itself.

Mostly to be done on Lathe or another forge world as its Tech-Heresy to be dealt with.

Group so far is 3 assassins: Moritat, Sniper, Pistol

1 Adept

and have no idea for the rest as they haven't done their rolling yet.

Any ideas on how to build inquisitors as I need to build an Ordo Malleus one as a villian?

Connecting dots between each groups.

A Heretek Savant (built using Radicals Handbook) working with the Logicians but a member of the Dark Mechanicus.

Ordo Malleus Inquisitor (need to be built) who is using the Logicians to bring enough unrest on Lathe to draw more of the inquisition for revenge.

haven't thought of what to build for an epic villian i'm hoping that Ascension is out by then for great evil I can use.

Anyway, I hope people and read through my ramblings and any ideas or feedback would be excellent. I can provide a tenative list of enemies they might be fighting or i'll be using for combat.

Malleus inquisitor and logicians? Please elaborate as I am a little confused as to why Malleus and not hereticus(possibly xenos if it involved xenos tech).

Also I like the idea as I am currently running a Phaeonite vs Logicians adventure. The acolytes do not know their master is phaeonite yet and he is still a real inquisitor but sneakily an extreme radical.

For the stats of the inquisitor maybe make him a non-combat NPC that they only catch glimpses of. He could be observed talking to minions before leaving etc or he flees the wrath of the other Inquisition forces in case he is found out. You could have one of his senior interrogators as the big end boss and then leave the actual inquisitor for another time. Or have him as a recurring baddie, especially if he is outed as a radical. The heretek is a nice idea and opens up avenues for some cool minions that will be memorable - enhanced ogryns, mechanical spider servitors etc.

As you have a very combat orientated group at the moment you may want to make the adept the primus so he is not left behind by the killing machines. Maybe make sure that the investigative intrigue part is just as important as the killy killy stab stab bit of the assassins.

As for an inquisitors stats, you could take the stat blocks of one of the two Inquisitors stated up DotDG complete with an insane wall of talents/skills that will make your eyes bleed if you look at it too long. If the Malious fella is corrupted, the Oblisonist would make a great template, else the other Inquisitor would work quite well then just tweak the numbers and stats to get the Malious man you need.

As for ideas and all: if this is to take place in the Lathes, then you can't go wrong (and will almost need) to have the Secutors of the Myrmadon involved just to add anouther layer of complication for the acolytes. Not only must they do their master's bidding, fight tech-heresy, and get to the bottom of things, but they must also deal with the Myrmadon and that dealing might not be all that good. After all, the Lathe's are the dominion of the Priesthood, not the Imperium, and they're right proud of that. They have their own secret police to exterminate all forms of tech heresy and they might not like foreigners stepping in on their turf thinking they could do their job.

So, the acolytes will have to dodge Myrmadon hit squads, industrial "accidents", and all forms of other dangers before even getting to the hereteks and heretics themselves. However, if they're good on the RP side and with thinking on their feet, they might be able to strike a deal with the Myrmadon as they would both have the same goal, especially once the Myrmadon learns that the Big Bad's goal seems to be essentially making the priests of the Lathes look so incompetent in the running of their domain that the Inquisiton should step in and pretty much take it from them to quell a heretical threat. Just trying to work out a mutually beneficial deal with the nutters in the Myrmadon could be one hell of a fun and messed up mission in and of it's self fraught with crazy over the top danger.

The Inquisitor that the group works for is Hereticus. The tiered enemy that they will go up against is thus:

Logicians - Rank 1-3

Phaenoite Inquisitor: The Malleus Inquisitor and his retinue - Rank 4-6

The Dark Mechanicum itself - Rank 7-8

If Ascension is out by then, i'll be adding more ranks to make it even or have them move on.

@Graver: Sounds like a good idea and I might use the Myrmidion as a "neutral" group the pc's must work with. My idea for their being on Lathe is that one of the assassins is a Forge World born, if another player chooses Tech-Priest its a tie in there as well. Plus, their boss the inquisitor is like that Radical in the back who was a Forge World TP who went Ordo Hereticus to hunt down Tech-Heresy. But their boss is a puritan not a radical.

Also, thoughts on making once they hit rank 4 a Maletek Stalker one of their "consistent" enemies to be fighting. Good or horribly overpowered.
