Good to see the StarViper finally getting some love!
StarViper Mk. II (News)

Thweek represents something FFG have been very loathe to do - a pilot or upgrade that can be rendered effectively useless if your opponent brings the "wrong" list. Vs lower pilot skill generics, like Contracted Scouts or Deadeye Scurrgs, his ability is useless.
Nah he can still grab your lowest PS and block with initiative bid. Not great, but not nothing.
Not really.
I think Scum (which is only a sidekick in the Star Wars univerese) is getting too much love for ALL their ships in general.
They have got the most powerful lists already, so why do they even get all these fancy little toys in addition to the OP stuff they already have.

Because the episode 8 stuff is coming, most likely.

Shadowing makes sure you are the last ship to move in a turn as long as you have a larger bid than your opponent. Pretty bananas on a ship with curved rolls and advanced sensors.
Mimicking is something you use when you're more concerned with one of your opponent's abilities, which is something you will probably only use if you're a) able to seriously mess with your opponent by doing so or b) built your Thweek as a counter to a specific squadron that you are facing right now.
This. Thweek's ability says "may," so if your opponent brings a bunch of PS1-3 generics, then no sweat! Just ignore Thweek's pilot ability and play him as an arc-dodger with higher PS than your opponents. It's very hard- if not impossible- to go wrong with Thweek.
Seriously. Thweek.

Oicunn Thweek with PRS.

The thing people seem to be missing a little about Ion Dischargers is the ship with them chooses the enemy ship. So you can't just 'soak it up' with a large ship, as they may not have chosen that.
Looking good so far as a release, but nothing that makes me go crazy and run out to get it. I like the idea of always having your own Biggs with Thweek if you still end up facing loads of lists with him. Or as others said, a mini-Dengar. You'd defo have to really know your local/event meta when planning on taking him.
Over all, quite pleased with the cards revealed. Dalan has potential to be quite slippery, Thweek is an intriguing wild card, and Ion Discharger isn't as troll-y as I feared. All in all, looking good so far.

You can. You put a large ship at R1, and nothing else. Now they either have to skip using them, or risk me junking them.
Thweek only really needs a good bid and a generally good build (probably FCS rather than Sensors tbh, he needs the economy) and he's goign to be solid in any list, because he can always arcdodge their highest PS pilot or block their lowest as long as you have the choice of init.

Because
a) A lot of players really like the faction's theme
b) you won't stop seeing jumpmasters if everything else in the faction is trash
c) the devs have a healthier approach to game design than rebel/imperial/original trilogy/T-65 fanatics.
Now leave and stay away from Scum threads, we don't want your kind in our wretched hives. ![]()
No thweeklink ![]()
Otherwise hell yeah, didn't think it's be so easy to screw dengar/Biggs over
Edit: and yes, saying scum ships can't be cool because jumpy and such is op is dumb
Should ALWAYS want cool toys
Edited by ficklegreendiceSo what are the silliest things you can do with other ships' abilities on a StarViper?
Omega Leader Thweek?
Oicunn Thweek?
Miranda Thweek?
Dark Curse Thweek sound horrifying.

Those are good. It might be interesting to copy an opposing Nym to mess with enemy bombing. Countess Ryad would be nice.

Every list has it's thweeklink. And once you figure it out, you can exploit it.
Edited by Darth MeanieCan't wait to use Thweek to Mimic Tel Trevura..

You may not want to though. Like Dash with his donut hole.

Actually that wouldn't work. With Tel, the first time you are destroyed you come back with 4 damage cards. So Thweek would come back and instantly die again.

Wait, pretty much scratch the Nym option. Forgot the "friendly bombs" part of his ability. Poo. Was hoping to be able to mess with enemy bombs.
People: Nerf Biggs!
FFG: Here you go! If you put Biggs in your list, the scum players receive another Biggs!
Scum players (as me):

Yup! I think I win the silliest use of his skill..

Palob would be really good.
Nahh, Inquisitor Thweek.
HLC on a StarViper...
Though Sabine Thweek with Mk. II is very slippery.
Shadow to copy PS level....I would take that and a bid every time with that bananas barrel roll and advanced sensors.
3 Attack
3 Defense
3 Shields
3 Hull
| Thweek — StarViper | 28 |
| Plasma Torpedoes | 3 |
| Fire-Control System | 2 |
| Scavenger Crane | 2 |
| Hull Upgrade | 3 |
| StarViper Mk. II | -3 |
| Virago | 1 |
| Ship Total: 36 | |
Throw that next to Dengar and slap Shadow or Mimick on it depending on whats on the table.
The fact that you get to choose between the two at the start instead of having to commit to one before arriving seems super powerful. More powerful than the individual cards by themselves actually.
Also....when will the Empire be able to hire Scum Boba Fett or Kath?
Now that Pilot Skills can transfer why not let the Empire use Scum pilots that they already have in the fold.

Fel's Thweek.

Omega Leader Thweek? RAC Thweek? Darthweek?
