Most Fun Lists

Long story short, I'm asking you guys what are your most fun lists? They don't gotta be competitive, as long as they are fun to play even when losing. I'm still going to go to tournaments because the community is great.

I want to do more Epic, but sadly the player that is usually up for Epic in our area just got a newborn, so he doesn't have much time to play :/

Gonna tag the experts of casual with a side question of: what's your favorite FFG mission? :)

@heychadwick @Babaganoosh

Hiya. Sorry for delay, but just got back from summer vacation.

I know everyone always says this, but I've found the absolute best way to break out of the tournament mentality is to try Heroes of the Aturi Cluster. Have you tried it? It's really well made and it's amazingly fun. It's such a different way to play the game that it's the same game....but so different. The co-operative way to play it is what helps make it because it's you and your friends against the AI. Don't be fooled. That AI can kill you. Also, since you can layer combos of multiple upgrades and EPT's, you can do all sorts of crazy things. I need some more XP, but my pilot is going to look like this soon:

PS 7 T-65 X-wing (Starscream)

  • Predator, Push the Limit, and Sabine Wren's ability.
  • Engine Upgrade, Integrated Astromech, and either Shield Upgrade or Extra Munitions
  • R2 Astromech
  • Ion or Proton Torpedo

Getting a free Boost or Barrel Roll ability before I move, then PTL off that to either get either a Boost or a Focus. I can do any speed 1-2 move as green to clear stress, and then grab another action! It's just super crazy all the things you can do with an X-wing at that point! I just love my T-65, which is something you don't hear often.

OK....let's say you don't want to do HotAC. You asked about favorite mission. You also said you wanted to do more Epic with someone. Well, try one of the campaigns out from the epic ships with someone. I think they are pretty interesting and beyond the CR-90 they are balanced (I think). They are fun, but they also teach you how to use the Epic ships, too. They teach the mechanics of Energy and all that and they teach the strengths of the ship. So, you learn to play Epic at the same time. That's always important because if you just jump into Epic and try to learn the rules then it takes twice as long. Epic games aren't really that long, but it is if you don't know the rules! I'd say any of the epic ship campaigns would be fun to try.

If I were sticking to FFG missions, I would try the Escort Mission in the starter set. Find someone willing to play it and plan on playing it a few times. Try it with someone...and then tweak your lists and try it again. If someone finds a super cheesy way to break it, just rack and restart, but build a slightly different list. I find it's a pretty fun mission to do and can be challenging. Even the list building portion is fun...especially if you allow yourself to try different tricks and brush off getting crushed once to try to counter their list.

If you were looking for some interesting missions, I would recommend the ones we are going to run at GenCon. Babaganoosh (Phil) has been working on these guys quite a bit and I'm really satisfied with them. I would recommend using the ban list that we have in place as some things just ruin the missions. TLT's or Tie Phantoms can just break some of the specific missions and I really recommend not using them. There are some really unique and interesting mechanics in these missions.

Mission Pack

Campaign rules - banned cards on page 4.

If you are looking for a fun list, I think it's just picking a ship or upgrade that you want to work with and going from there. There are a ton of things for Tie Punishers that you can go use...like you have been thinking about. Grab one of the Imperial Firesprays and try to build a list that works. I say just fly stuff that's fun to fly and you will really enjoy it. Or.....try that one ship that you haven't used and try to make it work. Sometimes it's just a generic U-wing, but you find a way to make it work in your list. Or it's the crew. Or.....whatever.

My personal favorite list that I just love flying at times is:

Darth Vader (29)
Swarm Leader (3)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)

"Night Beast" (15)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Flank with Vader and abuse the Evade tokens. :)

Thanks for the write up!

I've played HoTAC a few times, I loved it. However, I like the feeling of beating someone more than working with them lol. Plus I'm too nice to say, "that's a dumb move" ? I'm actually thinking about doing HoTAC on TTS by myself.

The Epic campaigns are definitely something I want to do. I've done the Gozanti one in the past and would love to do it again. Sadly, everyone that is up for casual stuff has been busy with work and kids.

I'm definitely going to try your guys campaign, friend and I did the terror tokens one and was a lot of fun.

That seems like a really fun list!!

My favorite fun list is:

Whisper:
Sensor Jammer
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Cloaking Device

Echo:
Sensor Jammer
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Cloaking Device

Dark Curse:
Stealth Device

The Phantoms are just a lot of fun to fly for me. The list can be competitive, but it is my go-to when I just want to mess around. All 3 ships are difficult to hit, though the opponent invariably targets Dark Curse as the first target. Being able to warp around the map at the start of each round adds a lot of fun and unpredictability. Though I get the impression it is frustrating to fly against. How do you plan a maneuver when you don't really know where the other ships even are (and in Echo's case, what direction they are even facing?)

Man, if we lived closer to each other I would LOVE to do an Epic campaign with you! I've done the CR90 twice, and a couple missions here and there from the other campaigns.

I want to second @Magnus Grendel 's suggestion of 5 TIE strikers. I brought them to the GMI Store Championship, and those generics are so much fun to fly! I only had three strikers, so I had to borrow some. I tweaked my squad for the Linebreakers Store Championship, bringing 4 PS 1 strikers and a Doom Shuttle. Battle report here . There is something so rewarding about arc dodging ships that are higher PS than you with lots of ships. They are so fun to plan maneuvers for. You really should see if you can borrow some to put on the table, because using this many ships digitally just doesn't fill you with that feeling of power.

Before the TIE striker, this was my go-to squad:

Omicron Group Pilot (Advanced Sensors, Fleet Officer, Intelligence Agent)
4x Alpha Sq. Pilots

Now, just like my other squad, most people don't own 4 of this expansion pack. But I LOVED flying it. Ships with 3 attack dice are no joke, and being able to boost or barrel roll in response to the Intelligence Agent dial reveal is so handy. Plus, whoever uses reposition actions gets a focus token from Fleet Officer. This thing wrecked Palp Aces. Unfortunately, by the time I brought it to a tournament (GenCon) Dengaroo was a thing, and triple Imperial Aces (TIE/x7) were back, which was much tougher to block and kill than 2 aces and a shuttle.

Not super competitive but really fun.

HWK-290: •Dace Bonearm (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Tactician (2)

Z-95 Headhunter: Black Sun Soldier (15)
•EMP Device (2)

Y-Wing: Syndicate Thug (26)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Bomb Loadout (0)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Ion Bombs (2)

Y-Wing: Syndicate Thug (26)

He really shouldn't, unless they're getting double mods or they're in arc AT Poe is close to immune to them. He has to double blank to not dodge 2 hits.

I always thought about doing a double phantom list, but the draw back was I had to buy a second one. May try it on TTS though since it's so much nicer now. Thanks for the list suggestion!

Doom Shuttle! That's something I've wanted to put on the table for so long! I'll take a look at your batreps! Yeah if only we lived closer then we could do some campaigns!

Yeah Omega and Jax I probably have about 100-150 games under my belt with those 2. So they don't excite me too much anymore lol. Zertik Strom however, now we're talking!

Thanks for starting this thread. Definitely needed right now.

Ten Numb(31)

Ion Cannon (3)

ASTS(0)

Heff Toeber (23)

Jyn Urso (2)

Jan Ors (2)

TJ (1)

Enhanced Scopes (1)

Luke Skywalker (28)

R2D2 (4)

LW (2)

Flichette Torp (2)

I get smashed with this list every time I take it somewhere other than casual nights, but man, it's so much fun to fly. Mostly because it's 3 ships I really like and two pilots I would fly almost every time I play if I could.

Friend of mine loves Stay on Target Keyan with Intel Agent and another friend runs the VI Advance Sensor Keyan, because of this Keyan has become my nemesis! ?

There was a guy at Worlds who had PS9 Poe with BB-8, Stay On Target, and Primed Thrusters. I had all 8's. After awhile I just gave up trying to get Arc on him lol, killed everyone else in his list and had to run. The guy was everywhere!
