ok good I have bad memories of supporting failing games like golem arcana.... this one looks like it has promise and trying to get dedicated group started soon!

But wasn't Golem Arcana really, really bad? As in the whole simplification of stat tracking via the stylus thingy revealed just how boring the raw game mechanics were?

Not to go off topic, but Golem Arcana failed because it felt like it was trying to combine a wargame and a video game into one. It never really felt like a game that had a home in either genre.

No, Golem Arcana was really good. My friends loved it, I could have non-wargamers play it and they enjoyed it. The app itself though was not ready for prime time. It needed to be pretty much flawless to win over so many people who were already predisposed to doubting it. They didn't have remote play, which while they didn't promise that at launch a lot of people backed it specifically for that possibility. It took a while to get the more robust multiplayer options, personal banner creation, and so on. While the app improved drastically over time and bugs were squashed, a lot of people made judgement on first pass and a bug cropping up on first impression would probably be enough to crush their interest.
