M3-A Interceptors

By Varyag, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hail. I am thinking of ways to use the M3-A Interceptor. I have a few lists.

1. M3-A "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor, Tansarii Point Veteran, Adaptability (+1 PS), Stealth Device, Ion Cannon. 4x. 100 points.

2. M3-A "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor, Quinn Jast, Deadeye, Stealth Device, Concussion Missiles.

M3-A "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor, Sunny Bounder, Stealth Device, Heavy Laser Cannon.

M3-A "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor, Cartel Spacer, Stealth Device, Mangler Cannon. 2x. 100 points.

3. M3-A "Light Scyk" Interceptor, Sunny Bounder.

M3-A "Light Scyk" Interceptor, Cartel Spacer. 7x. 100 points.

Discuss.

I have a Scyk list (Scyk and Destroy) that I've done very well with in tournament play....took 6th place in a 19 person store championship just this last weekend.

Serissu with Mindlink, Heavy title and Mangler - 27 points

3 x TPV equipped as Serissu - 24 x 3 = 72 points

Total - 99 points

A couple of changes I'm contemplating is replacing Serissu with Genesis Red and one of the TPVs with Inaldra. This would give me enough points to give Pulsed Ray Shields to the 2 named pilots. Testing will tell if that's a good trade or not.

I ran this at my last tournament. I'm not good enough with it yet.

I definitely agree with dropping Serissu for Genesis Red. You've got more play experience, so you probably have a better feel for how useful Serissu's ability truly is.

Quin Jast wants guidance chips.

I'd almost say an additional hull point is better than the stealth device. Maybe if you have Serissu that 4th native dice may stick around longer?

Keep practicing with the list. Once you get more experience flying it, you'll be surprised just how good it is. And, more importantly, it's fun to fly.

Serissu is good on the initial pass, providing support for the 3 other Scyks. However, much like Howlrunner, Serissu is usually the first to go down. Once that happens I break formation, usually in three directions, to make my enemy choose which Scyk to chase. The ship(s) that are free turn to engage the chasers

I am getting good value from teaming Genesis Red with Inaldra. GR's token cloning ability discourages opponents from executing token actions. By the time low PS Inaldra gets to use her Mangler a shield or two has been chipped away and she has a good chance to do damage with a crit.

Pulsed Ray Shields works good for them too as I try to keep them at distance to be long range cannoneers.

5x Cartel with Heavy Scyk and Manglers...

It's my go to list if I want to crush people. Personally, it's my best list, if I want to win consistently and not try something new this is the list.

I just tried Inaldra with pulse ray shields and I am definitely sold on her, in fact, i am sold on pulse ray shields there was twice in the game where being able to force the ion on my self to be able to do a 1 straight was huge even if my opponent knew it. I did not think I would really like pulse ray but in my first game with it, I zombied back 3 shields and felt like I benefited from being ioned in those situations, was really happy.

Anyways 5x Cartel with Heavy Scyk and Manglers is a beast mode list. (it was a solid winning list for me before the +1hp buff as soon as the buff came I played it in a kit tournament and won without any issue at all)

I haven't spent a lot of time with the new pilots, but the baseline list of awesome is as follows:

2x TPV/heavy/mangler/attani

Serissu/heavy/attani/tractor

That gives you filler for

-palob/tlt/attani

-2x pirates with VT or BMST and tracers.

-salt/pepper to taste.

It works. I fly it a ton (like any list, flight time is crucial) in different variants, and it kills, fickle green dice notwithstanding.

Serissu is the lynchpin, the leading tractor eats ARCs and other low agi ships for breakfast (couple with palob/ion/VT and its RIDICULOUS against rebels, i got close to a SC win seeing mostly fairship rebel lists) , the rerolls keep everyone alive, and if they go for her, you have a three dice Biggs that allows the manglers to bring the hammer for a round or two while she goes down.
