Pathfinder's Quick Movement Talent while Mounted

By AeroEng42, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hey all.

I am trying to figure out other ways to use the Quick Movement talent in Pathfinder besides just moving an extra range band, and was curious how it would work if my character were mounted on a beast. Would I be unable to use Quick Movement except for dismounting, or would it be possible to move while riding the beast? I am a little fuzzy on piloting rules (still relatively new to the system), so not sure if moving on a vehicle or mount is the same as the normal Move maneuver.

Thanks!

The Quick movement talent has o ne purpose and that is to give the force user an extra move , this do 3s not cover mounts or vehicles. It also does not give them an extra range band as itoften takes two moves to move a range band , only medium to short, or short to engaged ttake one.(or vice versa) medium to long and long to extreme both take 2 rach.

Ok, thanks! And yes, sorry for the confusion about range band versus move maneuver limits for changing distances. I was typing quickly on my phone and didn't have the time to be fully specific. But you answered my main question about how the Move maneuver relates to riding mounts, so thank you! Much clearer idea now, though still debating whether the talent is worth it for my character other than just something necessary to access Dedication and Enduring.

Gaining a 3rd maneuver is something that previously was only available on a signature ability, if that gives you any indication of how powerful it is, albeit this one is limited to movement. You could use your 2 normal maneuvers (one for free and one for two strain) to double aim and still be able to move on your turn. Ask anyone who has played a Hutt how annoying ponderous can be (sometimes), where you can only use one of your maneuvers per turn to move.

Also this is one of the few ways to get to move from extreme to engaged range in 2 rounds, normally it would take 3 , so it would mean a sniper getting two atracks on you instead of three.

Very true. This particular character is a dedicated ranged combatant, so I would probably use it to stay at range and keep aiming as you suggest. So far my GM hasn't used many melee combatants yet (AoR campaign), so I find my character so far not needing the extra maneuvers in a firefight. But maybe it's just lack of experience, in my case as a very new player, and in my GM's case as a first time Star Wars GM.
