variant : Untouchables

By Kas, in Dark Heresy House Rules

Now before I go into mym variant untouchable rules I will note that my psycher player currently hates my DM guts cos of it. :) lol

So I read the Eisenhorn Omnibus and was facinated with how the untouchables were used in the game, eisenhorn used them basically as an "I WIN" button against psykers.

But when I looked at the rules in the IH or was it the other herertic one..., anyway I found them to not match my expectations.

So I combined an modified the rules for them to better fit my ideal Z( and I made the sniper assasin in the party Untouchable)

For a 3m radius around the individual: No psychic phenomenom or daemon may manisfest, No psychic power can be cast or sustained or enter ( note this still allows fireball and teleketic boulders etc). while the individuals cannot be detected within the 3m radius, this effect may also not be detected normally by a psychic power. ( I'm sure im missing some stuff aswell but what do you guys think?)

Also I will allow some particuarly powerful psychic or warp events to harm the untouchable ( but this would be a rare thing and most certainly not the domain of any creature currently with a stat line in the DH books)

Also sorry for any bad spelling.

I don't personally like the idea of "3 meter bubble of invulnerability" since it is way much more powerfull than the Untouchable as presented in DotDG rules. Yes, the DotDG version the bubble is extended for meters equal to willpower, but its far from being absolute protection as it only does increase the difficulty of Psy rolls. It doesn't, however, grant absolute pretection to anyone else except the Untouchable himself This "3 meter bubble" version would mean that an Untouchable riding in Rhino would make the whole Rhino invulnerable to all psychic powers, effectively making the Rhino and all its 2+10 passengers "Untouchable".

Its your campaign, so as GM you can do as you wish, but when suitably abused it makes Untouchables a LOT more powerfull than in DotDG version.

True, they are now alot more powerful in the game, but for my party of min/max players it also provides a suitable challenge:

2 actually:

1) The psyker is the healer of the party, meaning this character can nolonger be healed AND if too close to the psyker the psyker can heal :)
2) People, especially the psyker in the above notation nolonger find him pleasant to be around (although this doesnt normally affect his fellowship)

It is also a really cool Rp'ing thing, cos the inquisitor basically say "yeah while you were all unconscious I experimented on youand now one of you is untouchable.

Hmmm, Rhino of invulnerablility, I wander if they'll think of it.

The party I'm GMing for includes one Untouchable (Voidborn Assassin) who pretty much works as their psyker/daemonkiller. So far the most epic event I've seen was her downing a Psy 3 Sorcerer *and* Daemonette without suffering a single wound in the process... I do admit that the Daemonette struck the killing blow on the Sorcerer (she was a bit pissed at being summoned into the range of Untouchables aura) but the Longlas Hotshot vs. Daemonette sans Daemonic was quite a killer. lengua.gif
