Any thoughts on this Capt. Nym?

By stormblest, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have been toying around with this for a few days now but have not flown it yet. I want to know what you guys think of this.

Accuracy Corrector puts an automatic two hits on the table when using autoblaster turret. Seems pretty awesome but I have never used this Turret before.

Genius seemed like an interesting choice by allowing me to throw bombs after a maneuver. This would normally be a bad thing, especially with the bombs selected (bomblet generator makes all ships at range one roll two damage dice and take all crits and hits rolled) but Captain Nym is not affected by friendly bombs.

Let me know! Thanks!

that's basically THE nym build, only it's VI because you need to get above Dengar's PS

^this, if you're going to require to get that up close and personal you need the extra ps and more often than not that barrel roll to get to where you need to.

Alright so my followup question would be who else would you put in this squad?

I have been toying with it and cannot say I found anything I really thought would meld well. Thoughts?

pretty much anyone who can stuff cad on board ad not die early.............

Being a Rebel player lured into this topic by my willingnes to make Nym work wonders in my squad, I don't have solid ideas on what you should bring along it (except that JM5K is still bloody overwhelming), but I vouche for all of the community here to be precise about which faction's Nym we're discussing. ;)

havoc still works for rebel nym, the builds discussed can work just as well for either faction, they just play a lil differently

Ironically...Dengar :(

Trying to build double SCURRG hank because double ridiculous wingspan ships is kinda my thing, but my 2nd SCURRG was preordered with store credit at a place 2 hours away and it's been difficult to get to :(

was just looking at that, not sure if it's a good idea, but.....

Dengar, Expertise, siesmic torpedo, Cad bane, unhinged astro, emp device, title, counter measures

comes in at a 98 point squad, gives dengar a solid toolkit to either be a PITA you don't want to shoot at or gives enough options to leave opponents vulnerable to a nym counter while still getting attack mods on both attacks. You could always dump CM for EU and lower the bid.

Oh no, I mean take DengarTel Dengar and slap in typical nym with cruise missiles and chips

Cad is nice, but imo not very necessary

S/V Nym is the only relevant Nym! Hahahaha! ;p

Jk. You're right though. Didn't think to do that.

There are a bunch of good ways to build out Nym, and that's kind of the default budget version (but with VI).

This is the version I run with Miranda:

VI, title, Advanced Sensors, Ion Cannon Turret, bomblet generator, genius, extra munitions, cruise missiles, GC

It's fun, versatile, deadly but squishy like most Nym builds.

You're right, of course. But in 100 pt format, it's never just one ship flying. Rebels or Scums, Nym will be a part of a bigger squad - but the two factions have different ships to put alongside scurrg.

On the freedom fighters' side, Nym is hardly the best bomb carrier available, outclassed by the slamming K-wing. For the bounty hunters' thought, he's about the only choice available.

The build sure works for both sides, it's legal for both after all, but Nym himself might have to fill a different role in your squadron, depending on the faction.
