One of my players is going to play a Jayan and his size is 22, makeing him 8 feet tall, now the book makes many references on sizes but never something concrete, for example, on initiative, it says a normal sized character has 20 + all other bonuses... but I don't consider 8 feet tall to be normal sized, what would be his base initiative then? and how does his size affect anything else?
Big characters
uhm, yes some places in the book reference different things on size. the only concrete rules i've been able to find ( and i look alot ) are that the size category for "normal" creatures is from 6 to 22, so a jayan at size category 22 is still "normal" and that he will not be able to up his size category any more, because doing so would put him into the "large" category. larger creatures get smaller initiative bonuses, as detailed in chapter 26, aka the monster creation chapter. normal size people (all pc's essentially) get +20 as their size bonus to initiative. thats the 20 pre-printed on the sheet. for a larger creature that would be replaced by 15,10, or lower.
Also, a person using a projectile at someone size category 18+ gets a +30 bonus, because the person they are shooting is very large. since spells are usually also counted as fired projectiles this works for them too.
-EDIT- also, there is a modifier to defending against attacks of a very large person. it is -10 to the attacker and the small opponent must be 1/2 his size. the attacker takes -30 if the opponent is 1/10 his size.
ah, very well, thank you
I have a Jayan with 11 strength and 10 constitution, so it would have a total of 23 (with the +2 for Jayan), which would make her a "big" creature ... She already should be 7'4" in size and 1065 lbs ... that's not only very annoying for the size, but absolutely ridiculous for the weight, so I use the bigger size rulings only for creatures or "some" NPCs, even the size scales are given in the "creation of beings" section so it shouldn't concern the player characters IMHO.

This is why 22 is supposed to be the absolute limit of player size. the messing with inish and unarmed damage aside, it just get's rediculous. BTW the max height/weight of that size category is supposed to be for something about as wide or wider than it is tall imho (a lizard or something... not humanoids)
If their size score reaches 23, they are considered a "Big" Creature, and their base initiative drops to 10. However, since they're Big, they can use Big weapons without penalty, and get an increase to their base Unarmed damage; I would say 150%, as per the same increase for Big weapons.
While size 22 might be really, REALLY big, it's still Considered Medium and, rules as written, offers no in-game effects. However, considering the massive power that comes with being able to freely wield Big weapons, I would say that any Jayan character should get the extra Size point to go Big, or perhaps even take Unusual Size to bring themselves to Enourmous status at Size 25-28.

I recently got the book, and I wanted to make a Jayan Character, but the Size chart looked messed up. Especially the whole +8 feet part for the jump from size 21 to 22. The +800 lbs looks suspicious too. Then I stopped to think about it and remembered all of the translation errors in the book and realised that the table didn't intend to say +8' and +800 lb for size 22, should say 8'+ and 800lb+ as in at size 22 and up the character is 8 feet or more tall and weights 800 or more pounds. The 800+ pounds is a little on the heavy size, but it is much more reasonable than the thousands of pound you get for adding 800 to your weight.

Actually, a Jayan can hit Giant size, get 11 in Strength and Constitution useing the "Add one to a Characteristic" Advantage for a base of 22 +2 for being Jayan and +5 for the Unusual Size Advantage gets to a total of Size 29 which is Giant. I considered actually making my character Giant Sized, but I thought it was a little to rediculous.
I'm running an Anima game and have a Jayan nephilim among my players, which has size 23. We made him enormous, but reduced weight and size (he is still way over 2.50m), which works.
As GM you should consider very carefully if you want that in your group. The damage output of this character is just ridiculous. He has an enormous axe and so he has a base damage of 190(!) in close combat.
Since my game isn't all about combat, the player is sensible and we focus also on the downside of being that big, this isn't really a problem in my group, but in others it might be.

This is the reason i do not allow my jayans to be size catagory 23+, and my munchkins (pun) to be size 6-.
also....190?! is his inish like -120?
I would also not allow a player to reach size 23. The effects of there soul can only change the physical shell so much. The true Jayan have a limit on there size as well which allows the GM to not apply the modifier if it takes them too gigantic. I'd just use the same for the Nephilim version and say it can't take them out of Medium. The largest a player can get in terms of size per the rules is 24 I think, so it's only going to effect a very outside case in any case - and obviously I'm talking about when only humans and Nephilim here.
On the other hand, I suppose if a player is going to raise strength and con to 11, and be a Jayan Nephilim that's exactly what they wanted to be playing so maybe I'm wrong to feel this way about it. Out of the players I know however, I think most of them would be doing this for the express purpose of the huge combat cheese and they would make the game less fun for the others. I don't think the role playing aspect of the character is particularly diminished if they cap at size 22.
