Coin cases for runes?

By Epicgamingnight, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Has anybody thought about putting coin cases on the runes to protect them and make them more satisfying to Cast?

A lot of people use them on the chaos bag tokens in Arkham horror LCG to protect them.

I wonder if they would be fair/balanced for flipping?

Or even legal for gameplay?

Thoughts?

A lot of people have done this, they have talked about it a few times in the FB group and I think there was a post about it...I doubt that, if brought up, a TO would not tell you to stop using them, there isn't anything that would guarantee one side wasn't creating a weighted affect. I want to grab some fro one of my sets of runes but I don't want to buy 50-100 of them so I haven't jumped in yet. But also I'm seeing more rune sets show up so I may just grab those.

How sturdy are the coin cases when subjected to flipping, dropping, tossing, etc?

One thing about coin cases, is the one size I ran into (I think it was 25 not 26mm) is actually too tight, and locks the rune in the one side, and these didn't actually flip fairly. So a worthy caveat.

I use this product from this supplier. After trying a few for my Arkham Horror chaos tokens they're the best I've found. Made from the same plastic as aircraft windows! Really nice and thick and glossy.

We got slightly larger ones, so they are not cramped in the coin protectors.

The actually seem to flip less well, and tend to roll off table. In addition, we are not sure they are properly weighted. We're taking our runes out of them and just playing with the cardboard, at least until FFG reads this and makes some dice ;-).

I've had good results using coin capsules on my runes. I don't really flip them so much as I shake them up in my hands and then drop them on the table.

I can attest dropping works much better than throwing them up in the air!!!

I put my runes in coin cases and was thinking about getting more for my Runebound tokens when I got curious about the weight of the cases and if there's an imbalance or not.

We have a small kitchen scale... not horribly accurate but I tried seeing if there's a difference. I added the top half of my cases until I got 1 ounce... 5 top halves. I then reset the scale and added bottom halves until I got 1 ounce... 6 bottom halves. It's a crappy scale that I had to manually adjust back to zero between measurements, but there was a small difference.
