The first Mantis Clan personalities!

By AllWingsStandyingBy, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

I liked the YA, minor clans with a big story. They're like the counter-culture option of l5r. When they got absorbed into mantis it was cool, but then aramasu died and the mantis got lame.

The Mantis were always lame!

Always!

Now, the clans they Borg-assimilated? All cool.

So, you're saying if the Islands of Spice &Silk were to sink beneath the Umi Amaterasu, you wouldn't cry??

I'd honestly prefer a Mantis minor clan as part of an alliance of minor clans that leverage what little influence they have to protect all of the Clans.

Try to threaten or attack a Minor clan and suddenly there's all these little things you lose:

  • Lose silk and spice imports
  • Lose 'unofficial' gaijin imports
  • Can't speak to the Dragon clan
  • No-one to deal with your ghost problems
  • etc.

On its own, each one of those is a minor complication, but together it becomes a major nuisance

I always thought the game died because Spider won and broke the game... ;)

We did, oh hell we did... but considering the Mantis were our bros with Aranai, Saving the Hantei Sword, AND drinking the shourido coolaid... we can share it with them. They DID put up the best fight, what with their champion dying laughing as he fights a Kaiju sized Spider demon in the middle of a dark magic tsunami as the world literally ended around him and sank into an OCEAN OF LITERAL SCREAMING SKULLS like a dream metal album cover for the ages. Like hell man... that was an ending for the ages

The other clans died like chumps or even worse, fled to the colonies... Mantis went out like champs. Let them feel like their deaths meant something. :D
