No Burn ability on Hot Monsters and no burn in Lava !!!

By topacesteve, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I just can't believe it that Lava Beatles , Hellhounds and Ynfernael Hulk dont even have an inherent Burn ability on their card.

Also it is ridiculous that a Lava Space only deals a single damage without inflicting burn condition and also that a hero is defeated on a lava space only at the end of HIS turn

and not the Overlord turn.

Just take a look at the conditions suffered from the heroes in Divity Original Sin - PC Game, to have an idea what we want FFG !!!!

(Or even at your own Lava effects in Descent 1)

The problem is the burn condition was not added in at the same time as any of the things you mentioned. It came with Lair of the Wyrm. Lava and the first 2 creatures technically came out before the condition did.

As a general rule FFG does not mix expansions like you're talking about doing, since they don't like having content overlap. You either end up with multiple expansions reusing content, or expansions requiring other expansions. Either way tends to disappoint new buyers.

But: you are free to create you own houserules. I can understand your position (and share it mostly) but I can also understand that FFG doesn't want to mix expansions for sales reasons.

I also have a slightly related gripe about burning being a "meh" condition. It just doesn't seem that good compared to bleeding, for example.

Also, the fire imps are weaksauce in late act 1/basically all the time in act 2.

Some time ago a friend of mine mentioned that it should be possible to write off a burn condition by stepping into a water space.

Maybe is you suffered a fatigue while in a water space... (Dunking yourself)

That would make it similar to costing an action...

LotW just makes me sad overall (compared to the other expansions, anyways) because I love dragons and fire and stuff, but the expansion design is weaker than the later boxes.
