Is the Force real?

By Force Majeure, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I was driving home last night in one of those self hypnotic states that happens when you're on the road for a while and it occurred to me that maybe the Force that Yoda and Ben are referencing is more like the ability to control gravity.

It surrounds us penetrates us. It's between me, you, the tree, the rock, everywhere.

Gravity can crush things, lift things, move things, etc.

Just a thought.

Gravity can have a strong influence on the weak minded?

Interesting idea but:

Grav lightning?

Grav telepathy?

Grav mind reading?

Let's just say Lucas took the truth and embellished a little.

Maybe it's true--all of it. -_-

Sounds like you've been reading too many Marvel comics!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graviton_(comics)

To me, the Force always seemed like it had something to do with dark matter and dark energy, related to the strong and weak nuclear forces, but on a larger scale, like gravity, so I see where you're coming from! However, due to the fact that through concentration people can control the Force, it seems more like Lucas was trying to create his own religion.

From a certain point of view.

Listen Kid, I've driven from one side of this country to the other. I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me believe there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. There's no mystical energy field that controls my destiny . It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

Your sad devotion to that 40 year old religion has not helped us conjure up a new FAQ or given you clairvoyance enough to know if Biggs is going to be nerfed...

It it not plausable that a filmmaker who has made no effort to approximate reality correctly guessed unknown physics in our own universe. It rounds to impossible.

It's people thinking they can control the force that get it all wrong.

You can't control the force that's an illusion.

When you surrender to the fact that the force controls you and you are merely there to fulfil the will of the force that's when you truly become one of the force.

Yes...on that topic, um, no.

Yup. Take vertigo for a start.

I think you're talking about the Higgs Field, right?

After 16 hours on the road all my mind invent is 50 foot tall grey rabbits on the side of the road.

After I shake my head and slap my face I realise two things....

First....it's trees not 50 foot tall rabbits.

Followed .... usually....by

..

It's time to get off the road and take a break.

Grav-push. That one works. Sadly only downwards.

You know those pills truckers take to stay awake? You took some other kind. :D

My powers are ordinary only my aplication brings me success - Jedi Master Isaac Newton

I wasn't expecting for anyone to think I'm a trucker, but I guess that's cool. Force Majeure : X-wing Trucker man!

(It was just a 40 minute drive on a highway I commonly take to/from work.)

EDIT: Oh, wait, that comment was for @Velvetelvis . Nevermind.

I could be a trucker if I wanted to...

I used to be. That's what your comment made me think of.

That actually happened to me once

Let me know how that works out when you drive off a cliff ;)

No, the Biggs Field. Extends to R1.

Hidden Tesla coils and nanomachines. That's all the Force is. The Jedi and Sith just perfected stage magic in order to gain sway over their parts of the galaxy.

You have

  • Strong
  • Gravity
  • and Electro-weak . ;)

Now try to bring unity to all of them. :P

Gravity-manipulation... sounds more like Mass Effect Biotics to me than the Force?

The Force always struck me as this kind of "God and me, we have this arrangement" sort of thing. When they weren't busy digging plot holes in transfusion hospitals, that is.
