I get the love for Yoda, obviously, but I can't really see putting him in IA without it feeling rather outside of the game's theme; even if his mission is restricted to Dagobah, you still earn him as an ally, which means that in something that's supposed to be adding to the Star Wars saga, suddenly Yoda is hopping out of seclusion on Dagobah to help some random Rebels against the Empire, but he can't be bothered to even check in with Luke or maybe complete the kid's training?

Just out of a sense of theme, I don't think I'd ever use Yoda in campaign, and I've not yet gotten into skirmish. As a result, Kanan (and Ezra, because he's there) got my Rebel vote.

I hear you. It's already "difficult" for me to include Obi-Wan Kenobi in any existing campaign because he's pretty much one with the Force at the time every campaign takes place. I also have to agree with you about Yoda. (though that will change for Obi-Wan with HotE!!)

To be fair, the Inquisitor is potentially a similar outlier, unless using a campaign that doesn't include Luke, Han, etc. But, if we consider Legends source material, with the resurrected Emperor, Starkiller clones and Joruus C'baoth, he can be explained away. Maybe the Emperor had the Inquisitor cloned as a beta test for his immortality through clones plan?

On the other hand, even though he died before Yavin, at least the Inquisitor was active all over the galaxy, rather than being a secluded hermit through the entire reign of the Empire.

Or you just treat his (and Obi-Wan and potentially Yoda) mission as a flashback (to when they were alive/socially interactive)

I've been playing around with ideas for having a Force Ghost Kenobi as an ally, this would let one use the mini but one would need a new Deployment Card etc.

I wish someone would remold OB1 using clear-blue acrylic for a force ghost:)

I don't think you really need to; Ghost-Kenobi has all the usual collors and textures in the films, he's just covered with a cloudy mat and glitter, heh heh. I think one could use him as is, even if painted in full ANH colors. (The only problem with the mini is the lightsaber, but I'm willing to ignore that, 'cause... LIGHTSABERS! ;) )

Huh, that's a pretty good point.

I had a Ghost toy set as a kid (Yoda, Kenobi, Anakin) and all were as @VadersMarchKazoo described- blue, translucent. That's what I tend to think of with Ghosts, too, but now that you mention it, I don't really recall them being like that in the film, though, they tended to just be a little shiny.

Indeed, only holograms are translucent and blue in Star Wars movies, and Force Ghosts even have eye colors etc.

@subtrendy2 how'd that article go?

I think you guys were missing the point of the re-release as a blister option. They could easily use that to buff an old characterful unit that is currently under powered.

With that in mind what would you like to see brought back as a blister.

Do they really?

And I suppose there is an explanation for why Yoda and Obi-Wan force ghost as the old version of themselves but Anakin returned is himself in his twenties? (Other than the fact that Lucas can't leave well enough alone...)

Um... this has no bearing on the discussion... We were debating how to paint Obi-Wan as a force ghost and my point was that you could just paint him regularly 'cause force ghosts in Star Wars aren't blue, monocolor blobs, but rather vaguely transparent people with a blue sheen (eye-color and all as you can see in the above image).

I had (obviously) no impact on George Lucas' decision to to put Hayden Christensen into the force ghost reunion scene in RotJ so I can't offer an explanation for that. If you are interested, however, I can relate (from memory) that Lucas has explained it as Anakin reaching force ghost status through his redemption somehow, and it is his Light Side self image that manifests as a force ghost. But why you challenge me on this, and in the current discussion even, I cannot fathom.

It was really helpful having your survey to help kinda focus my options, but I don't think it was my best writing. You can check it out here, though, if you'd like.

Ok. So I did it as a joke. No ill will intended at all.

The joke is really that you can trust star wars fans (myself included) to have a reason or rationale for anything in their universe (until it's one they don't like; midichlorians.)

Anyway, Im not surprised Lucas made up an excuse or that its what he chose. I'm just disappointed every time he fiddles with the movies I've come to love. At least they're out of his hands now.

All cool. I misread your intention (I'm notoriously bad at getting sarcasm, irony, or just play humor online unless there are emojis or similar to guide my way, heh heh; sorry man :) ).

As for Lucas fiddling with his films, I'm not categorically against it -- I for one like the inserted Jabba scene in A New Hope, appart from it being shoddily executed, and I like most of the making-it-a-bigger-world changes too, but some of the changes are ill-concieved and bad. But yeah, I am far more acceptant of these things than the average fan, so I don't count ;)

As for the films being out of Lucas' hands, this is true, but LFL/Disney have pretty much confirmed that they have no intention of meddling with the films ever again, including restoring them to the original versions, which I think is bad. There really should be a super-box set including every Original Trilogy film in (cleaned up) Theatrical version, mad-as-****/everything-included version (including even more deleted scenes for the insane fans -- like me -- who like quantity in Star Wars over quality), and finally a "director's cut" version or whatever with a well-executed new update with stupid things removed and beneficial additions remade with better special effects; I would watch the **** out of that box set! :D

But yeah... we might be derailing this thread ever so little here... (totally my bad)
