TIE Aggressor Sadness

Plus, I just want the Rebels to TRULY ****ING UNDERSTAND HOW ANNOYING TLT IS, HOW AGGRAVATING IT IS WHEN THE MOST COMMON UPGRADE YOU SEE IN COMPETITIVE LISTS IS THAT STUPID TURRET, ON THAT STUPIDLY HARD TO CATCH-Im cutting myself off, that got a bit too heated.

You do realize that rebels vs rebels (or scum) happens in tournaments right?

We're well aware of how annoying TLT can be because we've flown against it just as often as imperial players.

Ummm no. The Aggressor and Bomber bear almost no resemblance to each other. Dials aren't even close. Bomber has a lot of red moves. Aggressor has 1, and lots of greens and whites.

That dial is extremely sexy.

Yes, but now your most hated enemy has it.

I don't think some people are taking Unguided Rockets seriously enough. For example with Double Edge + Unguided Rockets + LWF + TLT for 30 points you have a 3 attack in arc that is immune to effects like M9G8 that would mod your attack, and that doesn't give the defender a range 3 bonus, and a built in Gunner like ability which you can use to follow up with either a TLT or if you're at range 1 you may want to go with a primary with range 1 bonus (so 3 dice again). Not too bad.

Sienar Specialist + LWF + Unguided Rockets + Autoblaster Turret seems like a good deal for 23 points as well. Fenn pulling up at range 1 for the kill has to deal with a 3 dice defense roll and is likely taking damage from the autoblaster from a ship that costs half as much.

The ship is also more dodgy than a Y Wing or a TIE Bomber.

2 Turn is white instead of red and K-turn is 4 instead of 5. Only differences betwen their dials. Identical greens too!

5 straight as well on the Aggressor.

Edit: I lied, thought it was there for some reason

Can run TIE Bombers instead for this kinda thing. Some nice Gamma Vets or just cheaper Scimitars.... Or Rhymer.

Ner, their rng 2-3 sucks

Gressors have TLT

Or rhymer, but he is,quite literally the single most overpriced pilot in the game by a laughable 5 point margin jusr by factoring a normal +2 poibts for +2 ps scaling

That's because unguided rockets are just not very good.

They're better than nothing, but insist on you having your action and taking a focus.

Things that mod your offensive dice are rarer than you seem to think - did M9-G8 insult your mother? Have sensor jammers plagued your nightmares?

Because honestly I'd expect to see hotshot copilot more than either of those, and that card just straight up prevents you from attacking with UR.

The ship is not more dodgy than a TIE Bomber if it's carrying LWF, it's actually strictly weaker on defense. Sometimes better than a Y-Wing on defense, depends on what you're up against.

Heyheyhey, dont you be badmouthing Deathrain w/ Bombletts and UGR!
Seriously try it, you can drop the bomb out the front -> barrelroll forward -> 4k and not get hit by the bomb just fine. Adv Sensors, Bomblett, UGR, and LWF is a 36pt ship that is oddly deadly and strangely durable (i had him last quite a long time in 3 games so far with him)

That's fair. I am badmouthing something I haven't tested and do want to actually work out.

It's worse than a 3 die attack. Do not kid yourself. That same 28pts gets you an actual 3/3/3/3 stat line instead of 2.5/2.5/4/1. Heck jump to 33 and you even get double tap.

That's its problem, it's not too bad, but it's not good either. Except TLT there are other ships that do it and those don't see play. There are other TLTs that do it just as well that barely see play.

What ship exactly gets you 3/3/3/3 and TLT for 28 pts? Doesn't exist

If you're ignoring TLT, the TIE Aggressor gets your so called 2.5/2.5/4/1 stat line for only 21 points. Not too bad.

I haven't gotten mine yet; gift and I'm no where near home atm....but friends are playtesting in our group. So far so meh to them; they're claiming it's the wave's weakest ship.

Man this game's current direction is getting me negative; it doesn't need more TLT, it needs less; it doesn't need more red dice, it needs better piloting (awarding it highly to boot); it doesn't need more tankyness and Biggs crap, it needs fighter pilots to man up and fight it out with better piloting; it sure as h*** doesn't need more bombing, it needs some bombing nerfs (Sabine and Slam)......really FFG? What are they thinking?!?

Unguided Rockets are pretty good on a TIE Bomber: 2 AGI, 6 HP, semi-3-attack for 18 points is pretty sweet filler.

We, uh, just need filler to matter again... :P

The Agressor is either a HWK with a better dial & primary for a 1pt surcharge, or a Y-wing with a better dial who uses AGI instead of HP to tank. Either way, it'll have a place.

It is better than a Y-wing or a K-wing but the dial is rather slow considering for a TIE. TIE Aggressors are very easy to catch, they are not as fast as many of the other TIEs. Also they don't have that much in defense, I am not just talking about the 2 green, they don't have very much upgrades slots for defense despite the obligatory LWF which is almost a must or else it goes down by turn 2.

They are a fascinating option. The 20 points (ish) starting bracket for Imperials is now very diverse each with different skill set.

Two 2 attack frames that can be boosted to 3 attack and boosted with additional weapons

Scimitar Squadron Pilot (20) - TIE Bomber
Unguided Rockets (2), Lightweight Frame (2), add bombs (possibly non-action)

Sienar Specialist (21) - TIE Aggressor
Unguided Rockets (2), Lightweight Frame (2), add turret

Two very different 2 attack frames that can take Missiles

Tempest Squadron Pilot (21) - TIE Advanced
TIE/x1 (0), Accuracy Corrector (3), add Missiles

Sienar Test Pilot (19) - TIE Adv. Prototype
TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2), add Missiles

Two very different 3 attack frames (maybe best described as "ace" frames as that's where they excel):

Alpha Squadron Pilot (20) - TIE Interceptor
Autothrusters (2)

Imperial Trainee (19) - TIE Striker
Adaptive Ailerons (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

Went 2-0 last night at our local x-wing night with 4 Aggressors. The threat is real people. :P

Eh yes but that is really boring. Personally I wouldn't want to play against somebody running quad TLT in a regular games club.

But this is what the design gods deem necessary for the game.....oh, and more unlimited bombs.....

yay

way to go guys

yay

Y'all realize we had this exact same discussion when the TIE/sf came out right?

My guess is we will find good uses for the aggressor

I didn't run TLTs. :D

There's something to that, but then it's also true that until Expertise/A Score To Settle/Pattern Analyser/Primed Thrusters/Lightweight Frame came out months later the TIE/sf was actually garbage. We weren't wrong to point that out then, and we're not wrong to point it out about the Aggressor now.

I mean when they release Umptimump Blastpack MkII in Wave 12 it's going to fit perfectly with the Aggressor and make it amazing. Or maybe they won't. Either way, right now it's a pile of steaming bantha droppings.

It wasn't. Just like mindlink wasn't. If there's one constant on this forum, it's the complete inability to accurately assess the merits of new ships and upgrades upon release.

The SF was panned on release. DOA we said. I played it anyway just to give it a shot. I won. Then I won again and again. Advanced sensors, mkii engine and predator were enough. My regular opponent pointed out that I had more success against him with the SFs than I ever did with my crack swarms.

Sure it's even better now, but it was actually good back then. It was just overshadowed by the ridiculousness of X7s.

It just seems to me the perks of having even a single TLT in an Imperial list isnt noticeable until playing with it. It is actually pretty nice to get those hard to avoid extra damage plinks.

It is sort of like Attani Mindlink. In theory it looked bad/difficult to use. In practice, it was super helpful and easy.

Just wish they FAQ Rutlessness to work on both TLT shoots and not only once. Would make the two named TIE Agressors more fun against the new Lowrick+Biggs+Jess+Rex thing or Kanan Biggs.
