Does this imperial Tie list work well for beginners?

By SassyPigLatin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Countess Ryad + TIE/x7 + Twin Ion Engine Mk. II + Push the Limit
Double Edge + Ruthlessness + Twin Laser Turret + Lightweight Frame
Lieutenant Kestal + Ruthlessness + Twin Laser Turret + Lightweight Frame
(99)

Would this list work for a beginner? Or would a different one or this with adjustments make it better/ more beginner friendly?

Thank you in Advance!

Turrets in general are a terrible way to learn to play. If the first thing you learn to fly doesn't care about firing arcs, it quickly becomes a crutch.

Behind turrets for terrible beginner lists, some ships and pilots are too forgiving of mistakes to be effective for teaching quality X-wing skills. Ryad is one of these. Her ability can easily compensate for a bad decision; something you are less likely to learn from.

My recommendation: learn to joust first, especially with at least one generic pilot in your list. Jousters rely on smart maneuvering. They force you to master essential skills, which in turn apply to the other ship archetypes. You might lose a few more games early on, but you'll be a better player for it.

I don't believe in training wheels. Get out there and challenge yourself.

If you really want to fly the Aggressors, then try Synched Turret. From a competitive standpoint it isn't as good as TLT, but it's the only turret upgrade that utilizes firing arc, so it does encourage better flying than TLT.

Ok thank you!

And remember, ruthlessness does not trigger after each tlt attack.

Especially with Double Edge - since Deadeye, Unguided Rockets and Synched Turret essentially gives him a predator/gunner combination inside his arc.

I'd do a low PS tie swarm as a beginner. It really teaches you how to fly in formation and how to maximize positioning. Plus they tend not to have a lot of upgrade cards, so you just keep it simple and not have to focus on extra rules.
