Small-Format Game

Played 1500 before, had a blast. Took about five hours, but I think the sweet spot is at 800. Wouldn't have any problems going 2000 plus. When I played 40k and warhammer, I used to do 4000-6000 games in a regular way. I'm crazy like that, hehe.

I'd happily spend five hours playing a 1500 point game. Seems like it would take longer if nobody conceded though. For that many points I would love 2 on 2.

A Vassal 2v2 1500 points/person game! Takers? Anyone?

Count me in the Imperial side!

Great! I'll be a rebel, to balance things out if we don't get any other takers, otherwise I'll be whatever side is missing a player after the other two players join up. . . if it turns out that there are only the two of us, do we proceed? Do we do 3000 point fleets?

It was one one one, me Empire and my buddy @Destraa playing rebels. We stopped after five turns as it was obvious I had a severe advantage. It was a blast.

Wanna do it again, on Vassal? We need 2 more players.

Edit: I know you said you don't Vassal, but common on, how often will you be able to play with 6000 points on the same table physically? It'll be epic, even if it is on Vassal!

Commanding 3000 alone would be quite demanding, but we could try

It would be tough, but it would also be epic, and thus worth it. I'd feel like a proper Admiral. :)

Commanding 3000 by myself would be fine, and I have the models to do it too.

Forgot to add I have the fleet Admiral inform too...lol.

ugh Vasal. I'll think about it.

@Destraa

@Destraa

You have a uniform too? And can field 3000 point of one side no problem*? Yeah, I can see how much more epic your games would get. :)

*how much of that is upgrades? Plain ships, how many points?

@Darth Lupine and I have run a 1,500/side game against each other in person before and that was on a 3x9, took approximately six hours before we called it going into turn six. We both can easily field 3k a piece too. Battle of Endor much? ?

This entire thread is making me envision a glorious world with an Armada campaign involving 1000+ point fleets and a grand admiral that decides fleet deployments for the admirals. That is all the more amazing when you consider the fact that this is, or at least was, a post about small format Armada.

Look up the Commands and Colors epic format. I haven't gotten to try it yet, but it sounds like the most glorious and frustrating thing I've ever seen in a miniatures wargame.

To sum it up quickly, I've got three commanders sitting at the board; they each control the units in their area. I stand behind them, and I don't get to touch the board. On my turn, I have between 4 and 8 cards. Each card says something like "activate Heavy units," or "activate light units" or "activate medium units." I can give one card to each of my commanders, allowing them to activate units in their area. I am forbidden to communicate with them, other then the cards. So, while I'm envisioning a light cavalry sweep from the left wing, and a heavy infantry push on the right and center, I can't tell them that. I can just hand them "activate light," "activate heavy," and "activate heavy," and hope they can figure out what I'm envisioning.

Indeed. I am become death, the destroyer of threads.

This actually seems cool. I'm going to have to look up more about it. When people want to know why someone purchases so many ships, things like this is why. Whenever I get the time and people to organize something this amazing I definitely don't want ship quantity to be an obstacle.

Yep. I'm working on a modification of it for Armada. PM me if you're interested, and I'll send you some details.

Fleet Admirals uniform, I'm 501st Legion. Got a Royal Guard too.

I have three of everything Imperial, just about. That includes fighters. Hell, in squadrons alone I can probably put down 400-500 points, lol.
