Question about elite rebels

By Etheneus, in Imperial Assault Campaign

So. I just bought the last of the wave 1 figures but while I bought two groups rebel troopers I only bought one set of saboteurs but saw that there were an elite card also. Can you use that in campaign. Troopers you have to earn twice but as far as I know you can't do that with saboteurs or wookie warriors (next buy) either.

Can anyone clarify?

Like you say, it's not possible to earn Rebel Saboteurs twice because both missions are green side missions and by the rules you cannot include them both in the side mission deck.

The elite deployment card is for skirmish, or if you want to use some house-rules for earning elite allies or upgrading to elite allies.

Without house rules there currently is no way to earn the elite saboteurs or the wookiees.

For my next campaign I plan on house ruling that earning Chewbacca gets them Wookiee warriors as well just so they have a shot at the elites.

I usually color code my bases (grey for regular, red for elite, uniques, and heroes).

But since I only play campaign, I don't think it's possible to have both the elite and regular trooper deployments for the Rebels. I may be mistaken, but even if I am I could just use the Rangers for the elites.

The only blister I've bought two of is the Terro for an additional Rider and the Jawas, but I'm thinking on picking up another Hired Guns and ISB Agents too, since they're the only other ones that could potentially get both reg and elite deployments in a campaign.

Short answer: Echo Base Trooper, Rebel trooper and something (from Jabba's Realm?) are the only ones where Rebels might actually be able to earn the elite version

Long answer: You earn the elite version of ally xyz only if you won 2x mission that awards the ally xyz. The restriction is: you may only include 1 copy of a side mission card with the same color that awards the same ally. So you can't have 2x green side mission that rewards Rebel Sab

Wookiee - there's no "2nd mission", there's only 1 green mission which comes from pack

Sab - you get a green from core and a green from pack, so nope

Rebel Trooper is possible because you can earn it from Gideon's side mission which is a red one + green from pack

Echo Base Trooper is possible because you can earn it from Hoth's opening (campaign story ) mission + green from pack

I think in one of Jabba's Realm mission it awards you with an ally, but don't remember which one (alliance ranger?), so it's from a (campaign story ) mission + green from pack

Good answers but might want to spoiler tag some of the mission rewards - I think those are supposed to be hidden information.

Thanks all for the answers!

The campaign ones, for sure.

The side missions are open info.

Certainly true for green side missions.

I believe the Rebel Trooper reward from Friends of Old is hidden information.

Sort of, but the listed reward would be half useless without the other.

This is true, but I would recommend against an IP keeping that from the Rebels as it could disincentivize them from taking the mission if they think they have to take another mission (which they may not have added to the deck) to reap the full rewards.

Possibly. Though, to be honest, Gideon's other half of his ability might be good enough on its own anyway.

Don't know how to to insert the "Reveal hidden contents" tab, so do not "highlight" the text below if you do not want to be spoiled (on elite Saboteurs version and Jabba's Realm) :

Start spoiler : In Jabba's Realm mid-campaign mission if the heroes decide to help the rebels and win the mission, they will earn Rebel Soldiers, Rebel Saboteurs and Alliance Rangers as allies. I guess you can then earn the elite Rebel Saboteurs version by winning their green mission later in the campaign. End spoilerat?

Ah, right, I'm not personally yet that far... :D

I actually enjoyed your spoiler tag more. I felt like Robert Langdon in the DaVinci Code! :)

Oh, absolutely. I choose my words very carefully when I said "could disincentivize." I even looked up how to spell one of them (I can't believe there was a L in 'could,' who knew:D).

Thanks A1bert ?

if I recall correctly you can get elite saboteurs in Jabba's Realm. One of the story missions rewards you with troopers, rangers AND saboteurs. So with Gideon and their matching green missions, you could possibly get all of them elite.

@neosmagusYep, already mentioned above. :D

Sorry for that! Now I know how to make proper spoiler tabs. From now on, my posts will be lack-of-sleep proof! ;)

Alright so basically the same question but now for the Imperial player.

Hired guns comes with both r and e card and I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to use both in campaign?

The Hired Guns rulesheet tells you in the Component Limitations chapter that in the campaign you are restricted to the number of deployment cards in the pack, i.e. two packs worth of figures. The same applies to ISB Infiltrators and Jawa Scavenger, and technically to Captain Terro pack, because you can use the Dewback Rider when Terro is is play.

@Etheneus

note that each figure pack may have different component limitations. It's always best to check each one for changes to rules.

Once again. Thank you!
