I Have A Dream...

By JoeyBriefcase, in Star Wars: Destiny

No, literally, I dreamt this. The nerdiest infusion of two things I like. It was Marvel Destiny the Card Game. In my dream I held the Venom and Spider-Man starter decks and upon waking I realized how much fun FFG could have with a game like that.

Any combination of heroes works thematically since they love to team up. The only issue is that they couldn't do just 3 colors I think. They could do Magic, Tech, and Mutants, but that makes mutants too broad a category.

I had the same idea some weeks ago.

Imagine a "destiny game" with two factions: DC vs Marvel.

You can team up the villains with heroes, cause they have to fight together to destroy the other comic universe :)

The colors could be as mentioned: Physics(Tech), Magic and Mutants.

There are so many characters to choose from.

This would be the final death sentence to my wallet XD

This would not be good for my marriage...Lol

This would be amazingly fun! I'm a Marvel guy, so I don't really care if DC gets the short end of the stick! :P

What I'd be worried about is the weird interactions between all the superpowers. For example, Magneto (as we know) can completely destroy Wolverine and Iron Man, just because of the unique way his power works. However, other things can happen that don't happen in the comics - like if the Shocker punches Klaw (his suit absorbs sound waves) or what Dr. Strange would do (how would any combination of weaker characters beat him?!?).

That being said, this would be very bad for my wallet! I'm glad FFG, for now, doesn't have the Marvel liscense, but it's all Disney now, so...

Wizkids' Dicemasters already represents DC Comics, I think it would be a stretch that FFG would compete against that.

In a world where IP lawyers do not exist and awesome games do........

I like this idea too, but I am pretty sure Poe/Maz would crush Superman/Batman or Iron Man/Hulk, even post errata ;)

Don't WizKids' have a license for X-Wing called Attack Wing?

Well, I suppose FFG could license the destiny game mechanics to Wizkids just like they did the Flight Path system. But I won't hold my breath...

I think it is a real possibility ?. FFG already has Disney IPs ... why not Marvel in addition to Star Wars. Disney paid like 4 billion bucks for Marvel .. so why not earn in every segment of Business ?

FFG accquiring a Marvel license would be quite remarkable. But right now they seem to be having difficulty keeping up with just one franchise, let alone another big one.
