Unpopular opinion.. Wave XII brings meta balance

By Rinzler in a Tie, in X-Wing

... In it's entirety, I am betting that Wave XII puts the meta in one of its most balanced states since inception.

All they have to do is nail the Kylo-cepter (which I feel like we all agree is happening) and make sure it comes with some upgrades that will help the Imperial faction out of its slump.
Here are my thoughts:

1) Powercreep has allowed the Rebel and Imperial factions to catch up to Scum and the mind-linked tanks;
2) Rebels are reclaiming jousting intimidation from the days of Biggs Walks the Dogs or BBBZ (this is a good thing); and
3) Acewing is back. Remember when Palp Aces and Commonwealth Defenders were a thing? The training wheels are off of this faction. Palpatine has settled into his throne as the (2 point over-costed) option that he should be. And enter the Tie/SF with its slower dial and intense damage output. I could really go on about how I think that, while not as fun as they used to be, Imperials are so much more balanced since the Palp nerf and the introduction of the SF/Lightweight Frame...

Having said all of that, Scum is right where it needs to be. They still have 2017 Worlds II left in them with what exists right now.

Edit: Wave XI is so passe. Definitely getting all the fixes in XII, though...

I think the Last Jedi related content is going to do some interesting things.

Luke will almost definitely get a new pilot card for an X-Wing or something. Even if he only looks at one in the new movie. But i think there is a good chance he actually flys a heavily modified X-Wing in the new movie. Look out for our first "Force power" related pilot skill.

I think Kylo's Interceptor will basically be the Imperial version of Fenn Rau but with a range 3 attack buff instead of range 1.

And last but not least...we will see a new A-Wing rocking 3 attack dice and some other shenanigans.

As for the latest released ships...i dont really like any of them. However i love 3 cards that were added...Intensity, Cruise Missles, and Unguided Rockets.

Still feels like slightly less hp on the scrugg and wookie wagon would have been appropriate...these 10 hp small bases are kinda bananas.

I had forgotten about the anticipated A-Wing rebirth. That can go one of two ways in my mind - a 'heavy' or 'light' evolution.
I see potential in both, but they both make me fear Biggs and Cruise Missiles even more...

Unguided Rockets.. Still waiting for that one to find its sweet spot.

RE: Hull/shields: Agreed. Not a fan, but it was necessary after they botched Scum for three waves in a row...

You mean Wave 12, right? I think this one is over after Guns for Hire.

I suppose - I was working on the assumption that this wave would have two releases, much like The Force Awakens wave VIII...

Bit speculative, eh?

I highly doubt any last Jedi content will be categorised as wave XI now that we have wave XI ships in our hands without even so much as an announcement about the next ships to be released.

The biggest balancing factor that we will see in wave XI will probably be the much anticipated FAQ.

Yah it is... something else (that might be great) is coming for the holidaze.

Aside from rule clarifications and another installment of "Nerfmaster", what re-balancing do you envision this FAQ achieving? Further Biggs restrictions?

The only realistic change I can see coming for Biggs would be "Once Per Round", I flew Biggs along side Lowhhrick and Norra other day. Both Norra and Biggs had regen, I finished the game with only losing two shielfds on Lowhhrick and that's because he had draw their fire.

With the Auzituck around, Biggs can't stay as tough as he is.
