Help killing the Lancer

Most of us will have now experienced the nastiness that is Nym and his bomblets. Others will have despaired at Kylo. I'm sure there are those that wake up sweating over Fenn. My personal bugbear is currently Ketsu...

As a predominantly Rebel player who has recently retired his Ghost in favour of Corran, I am finding VI Ketsu with K4 and Engine Upgrade to be an absolute nightmare. Higher PS, repositioning, accurate shooting and tractor beams are not my friend. Who can buddy Corran to kill this menace?

If you really want to play Corran, I'd highly recommend looking at Nathan Eide's recent list that had Corran, Biggs, and Ahsoka. Ahsoka can give Corran a crucial boost or barrel roll in the beginning of the combat phase against Ketsu's double arc tractor beam. There should be some good gameplay videos of him playing the list I think in the Hoth Open.

Lothal Rebels think that tractor beam tokens are simply adorable.

Echoing PhantomFO, bring back the Ghost. Corran just isn't what he used to be. Either dedicate 100 points to him like Nathan Eide's list, or maybe as a 42 point role-player (similar to how Wes is used--not as an ace, but a cog).

Ghosts don't really care about lancers at all. Ketsu, Asajj, doesn't really matter. It has neither the kind of offense nor the defense that concerns the Ghost.

Beating Ketsu is very much about managing the approach. If you meet her head on, she's gonna have you in both arcs. If you can get her to turn her arc, you're golden. Easier said than done, of course, but having a decent cluster of asteroids can help -- lancers prefer to orbit around the edge.

Miranda's a pretty good go-to for Corran's wingman. Her bombs are the perfect counter to higher PS ships, and Conner Nets in particular can mess up Ketsu.

Ketsu is my ship of choice for scum. I flew her a lot for regionals, and now flying her in our local league. Biggest problems I have are large blockers like bumbmaster etc. Not allowing me the chance to turn my arc. and I cant TB them off me to get shots. If a lancer doesnt have gyros, this is its biggest weakness. I flew against Chewbo, and chewie just blocked me while leebo ripped into me with HLC.

Assaj/Latts Razzi is annoyingly tough.

Ketsu Onyo is lethal but is a battering ram; because her ability requires "both arcs", then 90% of the time it means she needs her mobile arc locked forwards and...err...not actually mobile anymore.

As noted, your Ghost was the perfect tool to deal with her. I'm not so sure what I'd do with Corran.

People have already suggested using the ghost so why don't you pair it with Corran? Yeah it'll be a tight fit but hey, why not, solves your Ketsu problem by icing it something that can bump and dish out enough damage to burn its health down.

  • Corran Horn - Push The Limit, Fire Control System, R2-D2, Engine Upgrade
  • "Chopper" - Fire Control System, Twin Laser Turret, Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, Anti-Pursuit Lasers

Running into Chopper will hurt Ketsu a lot.
