4x tie aggressor?

By SassyPigLatin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Would running 4x tie aggressor be a good list? I'm still very new to this game and am not sure about if this is good or ridiculous.

I was thinking Sienar Specialist with tlt x4.

This is kind of like the y wing idea but it's imperial and it's easy to get, as currently the y wings are quite expensive.

Have not tired it yet, but should be very similar tot eh y-wings.

Do you think it would work?

4x Sienar Specialist, TLT, Lightweight Frame is basically 4 TLT Y-wings. It's a bit worse math-wise and green dice dependant, but just like 4 Y-wings it's a decent squad.

It will completely demolish some squads and struggle with others. The pro (con?) for a new player is that the only thing you worry about is keeping te enemy out of range 1.

Compared to Y Wings you'll need to depend more on staying out of arcs, but you also get a better dial and actions.

It'll be a very strong list for a new player, but it will also teach bad strategy habits with flying (particularly for an imperial player). You'd be much better served using 1 or 2 as support for other options.

Edit: what do you have already?

I honestly won't be using this list for very long or imperial (I like rebel and scum more) but I feel for beginning it will work mostly as it gives me the tlts for future use and a list that works for awhile as I build up other lists.

Its the most boring list imaginable, but if you like being bored to tears, rolling 3 dice attacks ad infinitum, then yeah, go for it! It does work though, unfortunately, but 4 TLT is such a bummer to play with or against imho.

If that's the case just grab heroes of the resistance and a k wing, will cost about the same (here in aus anyway) and you get several top or just under top tier rebel ships (rey, poe, miranda), mostly already kitted and you get a pair of tlt to go on top.

Edit: and assuming you have a starter set you then have several lists. The original adds biggs, the TFA gives poe bb8 and a second t70 to use as jess pava beside him if you want.

Pros: Its easy and it has a good chance of winning you some games as an inexperinced player
Cons: You will not become a better x-wing player by flying it. If you win it will be most lucky dice not strategy and your wins will impress no one. Good players will defeat you. You will not have fun flying it.

I don't have any of the aggressors just wanted opinions before I got them, I'm considering this and a budget scum list.

K-wings I think around here are expensive online and no stores have them instock near me.

even then, given you are buying 4 small ships most of which you are going to discard later there are better options. It'll probably stretch the budget but a punishing one and shadowcaster are awfully strong even without spending on their full list kits. On top of that the punishing one should be an auto on the list to buy just for the cards until they nerf attanni

Agressors aren't bad for a start, but if you want to buy 4, most of them will be useless apart from that particular list. I think it would be better long-term to try something like 2 Aggressors (you get 2 TLT's and LWFrames, nice), a Tie/FO (one of the most self-sufficent expansions there is - Omega Leader, Comm Relay, Juke, 26 points of goodness) and maybe a Tie/Striker? Or Imperial Veterans? It depends on how much you want to spend for it to be playable. Agressors are good in this repsect - it's a rare thing that all the upgrades you need are in one box, but like I said, if you want to play something else later on, some of it will be wasted money.

Here is some suggestions for good budget lists. The expansions contains all upgrade cards in the lists and you will not regret buying any of these expansions. The expansions form a good basis for building any of the factions and are very cheap way of getting into x-wing.

Imperial
Expansions: TIE/fo Expansion, Imperial Veterans Expansion, Original core set
Price: 85$
List
Omega Leader (TIE/fo), Juke, Comm Relay (26)
Countess Ryad (TIE Defender), TIE/x7 (32)

TIE Fighter (12)

OR

Epsilon Ace (TIE/fo) (17)

Rebel
Expansions: Heroes of the Resistance, Original core set
Price: 80$
List:
Rey (YT1300), Determination, Finn, Hotshot Co-Pilot, Millinium Falcon (56)
Poe Dameron PS:8 (T-70 X-wing), Trick Shot, R2-D2, Proton Tropedoes, Pattern Analyser, Black One, Integraded Astromech (42)

Scum
Expansions: Punishing One Expansion, Protectorate Starfighter Expansion, Most Wanted Expansion and either Core set
Price: 115$
List:
Dengar (Jumpmaster), Attanni Mindlink, R5-P8, Punishing One, Plasma Tropedoes, K4 Security Droid, Guidance Chips (54)
Fenn Rau (Protectorate Starfighter), Attanni Mindlink, Concord Dawn Protector (30)
Binayre Pirate (Z-95 Headhunter) (12)

The Barrel Roll will make a big difference to its effectiveness over Y Wings I suspect. Being able to turn then barrel roll to hide behind rocks will make it a lot easier to guard the donut hole.

If you want a slightly more challenging quad Aggressor squad I would run this:

Onyx Squadron Escort (19)
Synced Turret (4)
XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Onyx Squadron Escort (19)
Synced Turret (4)
XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Sienar Specialist (17)
Synced Turret (4)
XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Sienar Specialist (17)
Synced Turret (4)
XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Total: 100

Should be very good in a joust but probably not that good against anything that can arc-dodge.

That does seem interesting. Thanks for the help!
