New investigators officially spoiled

By StormyWaters, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Harrigan is really cool, I love his ability and event card. Looking forward to trying him out. Do we know when the deluxe box is out?

We are assuming early release at GenCon, maybe full release in late august or early september. No official word though.

Harrigan looks pretty good, I wish they would have tied him a little stronger to his previous Arkham Files iterations, but they chose to go a different direction. That's ok though, I assume you mean his skill card? There was no event spoiled for Mark. The Home Front is a skill card, and it's pretty cool. It would be nice if he had 2 copies of it, but we will just have to wait and see. He looks fun to stock up with Xavier, True Grit, and a Bulletproof vest and just go to town.

I also like "Let Me Handle This!" looks like you can use it to force an enemy to spawn at your location (kind of) in multiplayer. Assuming no special spawn instructions monsters engage the player who drew them, so Let Me Handle This! can ensure that your Guardian is doing the fighting while your Seekers and clue-hunters investigate unmolested. I love Let Me Handle This! in Roland too.

"Let me handle this" also helps with other items. For example, if an event card pops out that forces Skids O'Toole to test will, Mark can take that heat off him with a skill of 5.

I think the key to playing Mark well is managing the damage on him. He is going to need items to restore his health for as long as he keeps it up, there is nothing he can't do well. Just to bad he can't get a Chicago Typewriter.

Minh is pretty cool too. I am considering a deck that has 20ish skill cards. Probably best in a 4 player rather than a 3 or less.

Edit: We are expecting that this will be released in early August. Based on the timeline of when it got on the boat, it would be sitting in their warehouses for 3-4 weeks if they release during gencon. That being said, I can survive having my heart broken so I choose to be an optimist here and no one really understands the ways of FFG. We will know for sure in a week or two if it switches to now shipping.

Do you think there might be a Guardian card released eventually that might be a different take on a Tommygun?

I would wager, there will be a guardian take on the Tommy gun, cause the Rogue version is the Chicago Typewriter, the Guardian version could be..."Thompson sub-machine gun", which based on previous weapons for guardians makes more sense. I would also think it would not have the same mechanics as the rogue version, it might be like action: spend any amount of supplies, for each supply spent this attack targets a different enemy. Or something like that, just guessing but that seems more like a Guardian weapon.

I could see it being similar to typewriter, but instead of each action you do +2 Fight you do +1 damage instead? Like simulate how a trained guardian would use a gun in contrast with a rogue spraying indiscriminately. Rogue is increasing odds to hit while a guardian could be focused on keeping a tight grouping or something.

While not completely similar in design, the Lightning Gun is pretty much the Chicago Typewriter. Same Damage boost, one less ammo, one more cost, but instead of spending actions on (which rogue is good at gaining more of) it's a solid 5 boost which is an extra action and a half from the typewriter. They fill pretty much the same exact role, and they fit themes nicely. Guardian's is more of a solid, guaranteed hit, while rogue is more press your luck with how much you invest.

Its just that thematically, Mark is holding a Tommy Gun in his art. Its cool, he works fine without it. Its just the picture (plus in Arkham Horror, he starts with a Tommy Gun).

in arkham horror he starts with the flamethrower and the molotov cocktail. but the art is the tommy gun.

Thanks. And man a flamethrower would be cool. Maybe it could take up both hands AND the body slot.

it would be wicked, but since we didnt see it as mark's Signature, I doubt we will. Molotov I think is a real possibility though.

The beauty of this game is we could very well get both. It may take a while but there are lots of things they have yet to do and so much they can do.

I hope we see more things from rogue that work after an enemy is evaded. Something like "make them bleed" that does damage after the enemy readies. Or a weapon that offers extra combat (or dmg) against an exhausted enemy.
