Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter
Resistance A-Wing
T-70 X-Wing

The long awaited modification or title card to fix the X-Wing.
What do you want it to have?

I think there will be 3 ships, 1 from each faction.
Imperial - TIE Advanced Interceptor
Rebel - A Wing of some description
Scum - No idea, not many scummy ships have been spoiled/seen in the teasers.
There won't be a starter set.

Yup; this. So many people were commenting on a 'Rogue One' starter set; and it didn't happen. They're not going to flood the market with 3 starters. I would expect individual expansions and maybe something similar to 'Heroes of the Resistance' down the track.

I was thinking more along the lines of two expansions (rogue one) but maybe I'm low-balling FFG's ability to put out

Hopefully we'll see a T-85 in TLJ so that could be an option.
I would expect:
The First Order Bomber/Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter/Whatever that thing is.
The Resistance A-wing if they decide it's a separate craft (It looks like it), hopefully with Lulo as a pilot (Poe Dameron comics)
The Resistance Bomber (lego kit spoiled - the Resistance doesn't currently have an ordnance carrier).
To be honest, I'm still surprised we never saw the Resistance Transport - the troop carrier B-wing thing.
The development of the Force Awakens core set also coincides with the idea of the relaunch of Star Wars into the collective conciousness. They (Disney) saturated the market with product in all forms as a way of saying "Star Wars is back!"
Examine the hype for the new movies, while very much there, it is nowhere near the levels found for the Force Awakens.
The Force Awakens was trying to be, for a new generation, what A New Hope was for its generation, while being a passing of the torch from old fans to the new. It was also a proof of concept film, that a fun and action packed enjoyable film , light on plot and paying tribute to the original and, much like A New Hope, have a serialized pulpy feel.
Now, everything has slowed down, Star Wars has a new home, the training wheels for movies (and all media) are off, we can get some more consistent and cohesive upgrades. Heck, I expect Battlefront II to get some love for x-wing, we finally have another game set from the Imperial point of view, that is using the Raider that FFG helped create - there will be an Iden Versio pilot card, but for which ship?
Yes, I am expecting a series of "Canon upgrades" Like heroes of the resistance, that focus on key movies and other media.
With three factions now, not sure a starter set is doable unless it comes with six fighters, two for each faction. Then you could just pick two factions for the tutorial.
While I know it won't happen, I wouldn't mind seeing 2 more starter sets.
One with 2 resistance A-wings, and a single scum ship like a starviper or y-wing or something.
And one with 2 scum Z-95s and a single imperial ship, probably Kylo Ren's tie or equivalent.
That way we would have a starter set that has 2 ships for one faction and 1 ship for another for all three factions.
I hope we get a Rogue One core set, with blue squadron x-wings and more tie fighters!
The TFA core set made sense - Star Wars had just come back in force (har!) and it introduced a new "era" in the timeline.
I would be pretty surprised if they made another core set like the two out there already any time soon.
Why not a scum starter set?

I am hoping, far fetched and a pipe dream, that they use a Core set to release a lot of the errata cards. They have pretty much said that they wont do card packs so maybe a new core set will be a way to release them, without having to do a lot more ship expacs.
Edited by ArchangelspivJumpmaster vs Gunboat all flown by Sabine.
What took you all so long?
Edit: As a Scum player I don't want to see fixes in an I vs R starter set. Or at all for that matter. Only Scum should get sweet sweet fixes.

Except that, for whatever reason, Core Sets only contain like 4 upgrade cards historically and FFG is pretty consistent when it comes to amount of upgrade cards included in things.

Is it wrong that I'm really looking forward to Sabine's Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter?

Scum has a starter. It's called Most Wanted and I wish they would do more sets like it. I would love a 2 X-wing 1 Y-wing Scarif pack with U-wing base plate for K2 and some goodies for all three ships. Everyone knows the U and X could use some love. The Auzituck makes the U-wing obsolete after only 1 wave.
.... a golden ticket to SkyWalker ranch!

I don't see a problem, many miniature war games have multiple factions and have starter/core sets with just two of them.
For a new starter I would like Rebels vs. Scum, not that this or a new starter in general will happen.

Not quite, it doesn't have the rules/dice/templates etc..
Basically if you want scum only you are going to have to suck it up and have some imperial and rebel ships in your collection.
Scum will probably have yet another random ship that had screen time for like 5 seconds.
Perhaps that larger ship Finn was about to get in before running off to find Rey, whatever that was. Dont think we even saw anything of it other than the door lol

The consolation is you get to play Scum, which had defined the modern meta game with their logic-defying cost-to-power ratio for the past three waves. ![]()
We probably won't get another core set. I think we'll get a campaign instead.
Working on the hypothesis that a Last Jedi is inevitable (which I don't actually believe, but for the sake of argument), I'd want it to have one Resistance A-Wing, one of Kylo Ren's TIE, and a third Scum ship, even if FFG has to make one up. That allows for some interesting one on one action and possibly some focused upgrades.
Though some sort of campaign set would be preferable.
