Garm list

By itzSteve, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I am thinking about putting Garm Bel Iblis on the table in a tourney coming up. What do you guys think about this build? The Pelta will be able to use the Entrapment Formation! every turn with the Garm token give away, which should make the list very unpredictable in its movements. 6 activations/ 8 drops with a 10pt bid.

oh wow...I just realized that I can just swap out Garm for Dodonna and Ahsoka for Raymus for basically the same function. I lose the turn 1 Entrapment ability, but I gain Dodonna crit abilities and with this list and its crit generating shenanigans, might be the better call here. The question then becomes, is Opening Salvo or Precision Strike a better choice for the red objective?

I think your discovery above improves the list. Dodonna and Garel's Honor sing together. Garm wants high command ships with red dice that are going to skirt and slowly attrition the enemy out, which is what gets you to round-5 and the second round of tokens.

I know you're strapped for points, but I'm curious about the no MC30 titles.

And something I've been thinking over with all of the Quasar and/or Sloan is dropping Tycho for a generic A-wing and spending the points elsewhere. When he gets jumped or otherwise attacked, I find that he gets reduced to being a generic A-wing anyway. Just a thought, I'm about 50/50 now in my lists in whether they are still Tycho/Shara/2 A-wings or Shara/3-Awings.

Going with the no title MC30 is just an experiment I am trying out. My theory is that most MC30 attack runs are:

1. Position yourself to activate last and wind up with a double arc, close range shot for the beginning of the next turn.

2. Take some damage on the way in and on the way out.

3. Run away...

I want to see if the title actually makes THAT much of a difference.

Regarding Sloane...I think she is good but not great, and is over hyped and over costed at the moment. Once players realize how her squads just melt like butter after the initial attack, she won't be used as much as people think she will. Yes, Tycho took a couple of accuracies from a Sloane TIE and had to run away from the fight before he died, but another TIE attacking a generic A-wing couldn't buy a hit if its life depended on it and wound up dying to its counter. I have been just flying my A-wings in the Toryn Farr bubble and they have held up very well against Sloane TIE's. My last game against a Sloane list that had Dengar/Howlrunner/ 8 TIE's, just melted against them. Dengar and Howl were sitting on 1 hull each and all the generic TIE's died. I still had Shara and a generic A-wing left on the board. That's a win in my book. I loved watching a Sloane TIE die to Shara's counter...she is such a beast!

BTW...I haven't met a Quasar yet I haven't been able to one shot with a MC30....well a double arc anyways...lol.

If you want the turn one Entrapment you can always just use Hondo. :)

Since they both happen at the beginning of the ship phase...good call!
