Lowhhrick and C-3po

By sucho23, in X-Wing Rules Questions

How would the interaction between Lowhhrick and 3PO work? If I had 3PO on another ship and guessed 1. If I rolled the dice and got none do I add the Lowhhrick result, now have 1 and get an additional one? Or if I guessed 0, rolled a blank, would I get 1 for 3PO and the one for Lowhhrick?

Lowhhrick is a modification. C-3PO must resolve before modifying dice. Goes like this:

1. Guess for C-3PO

2. Roll Dice.

3. Resolve C-3PO

4. Modification step (including Lowhhrick)

jmswood is correct. The short version is they have no interaction at all.

C3P0 can be juked, Reinforce cannot - the step they are added in at is different.

To be clear: the Evade added by C-3PO is subject to Juke. The attacker cannot Juke an evade before C-3PO resolves.

I have a feeling that this will get an FAQ. The timing in guessing with C3PO is outside the timing (as stated in the ***), but they both say" add 1 evade result," so I wager they will say the dice gets added from reinforce before the modification step because its not a "may."

C-3PO specifically states it works before modifying dice. Other modifications happen in the relevant modification step unless otherwise specified, which Low doesn't. No FAQ needed.

We've had inconsistent email rulings on this. Way back in the day when non-epic Reinforce wasn't a gleam in the designers' eyes, we had an email from Frank saying you could Juke the added evade result from Reinforce. But more recently (March of 2017) I got a Frankmail saying it happens during Defender Modifies Defense Dice, just like Evade tokens.

Um... so ironically, the fact that epic mechanics are inserted in standard play is helping to clarify some age old epic questions? Nice, hehe.

Not to split hairs, but since reinforce is not specified at which step it occurs, doesn't that lead to a need for an FAQ? It just says when defending, not at which step while defending. Generally speaking, I think you are correct in that its a modification... but think FFG could throw us a bone here and be more specific about it.

It doesn't need to. It's a dice mod, dice mods happen in the relevant player's 'modify dice' phase unless otherwise specified.
