Store championship range ruler sets

IMG_0247_zps9vvrawax.jpgWhat's the deal with the different color range ruler sets from store championship season this year. Is one color harder to get. And any ideas of why it happened.

There are red ones? Crap, I'd actually try to win some red ones.

Pretty sure mine are the same (lighter orange), but I guess I should check before I sell/trade one set.

Wonder if the red ones are too short like the orange ones are.

They're both orange, just different shades. I'm guessing they ran out of one color of acrylic, then switched to finish off the order. Purely speculation though!

IMG_0248_zpsrz91tqnr.jpgNot so much red but more of a darker orange.

Only light orange around here. The dark orange seems snazzy, but I still prefer the blue of 2016. Wish they'd made a full set of 'em.

Ahh...k. Now I don't feel so bad about botching my chance at a full set on Saturday. ;)

I still have my neon green from 2014

Mine are the light orange...

That's a different blue than the 2016 Store Champs, which are what I preferred the color of.

I hope they eventually trickle down some of the more intricate designs, although I doubt it. These orange ones are so plain it's painful.

maybe we do need an ARG app for range. I mean if the physical copies have so much variance perhaps digital technology can standardize things better.

No god **** it, we don't need everyone on their phones constantly during games.

hence the name salt master?

Did you forget there is an "Official" X-wing dice app out there.

1.) Yes I did. windows phone user here rip

2.) The tournament regulations require that it be set on the table in full view of both players. That's functionally identical to using normal dice.

It's not someone snubbing you by putting their glowing rectangle between the two of you.

The Regionals templates from last year also had quite a bit of colour variation across sets. I kept the ones I liked more (the lighter ones) and gave away the other set.

I'd be shocked if an ARG app could provide greater accuracy than even the slightly sketchy tolerances in FFG materials, especially when the rule about sharing a set of templates exists for a reason.

Seen both sets handed out as prizes locally. I imagine the spread is fairly random.

I have a set of the darker orange. Would have preferred the lighter ones myself but hey, rulers are rulers. :)

sure, but then again if there are sketchy tolerances ow do we get them standardized? Does anyone have the exact dimensions of the ranges in standard units?

10cm each. A movement unit/base length is 40mm, and we know all the ideal dimensions and angles for the move templates as well. most of the laser cut templates have better tolerances than the die cut ones.

I'm going to have to disagree, the 2016 Nationals templates and 2016 Store Championship range ruler are the same color =). Sorry for the potato quality photo.

Edit: of course it might be possible that some of them came out in different colors like with this years' orange range rulers, but your comment surprised me.

No, I'll accept that setup! Your picture here looks slightly off from my color, but I assume that's more the photo translation compared to a mental image since I don't have my ruler in front of me. I assumed, from the first picture, that it was a different shade.

Now I'm sad they made a full set and I don't have it :/
