Sloane Useless?

By Undeadguy, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Is Sloane useless? Is Sloane spending the token? Or is the squad spending the token?

  • Ships and squadrons cannot spend command dials, command tokens, or defense tokens belonging to other ships or squadrons.

And what about Jan?

Jan is 100% breaking RAW. Has anyone every noticed this before?

Golden rules baby, golden rules...

"Effects on components such as cards sometimes contradict rules found in the Learn to Play or Rules Reference booklets. In these situations, the component’s effect takes precedence"

Remember also that the "cannot is absolute" rule applies only to upgrade cards. Instances of "cannot" in the RRG are not absolute.

Ah, that is true. I thought "cannot is absolute" applied to everything.

If a card effect uses the word “cannot,” that effect is absolute.

Guess I'll just have to print the RRG onto cards...

Also, it wouldn't be the first time at all. For example, the Squadron Phase entry of the RRG reads:

• A squadron can either move or attack when activated during this phase; it cannot do both.

Yet that's exactly what Rogue does.

Considering that defence tokens don't have to be spent and Sloane allows the attacker to spend a token. Does this allow you to use Sloane's ability to spend a defence token on Jan Ors if she is in range of your target?

I only ask this because Jan Ors says that a friendly squad can spend her defence tokens!

I wouldn't think so, because Sloane allows the squad to spend one of the defender's defense tokens, and while Jan allows the defender to use her tokens, they are still hers , not the defenders.

Same reason that you cannot use ACC results on Jan Ors' braces unless Jan Herself is defending.
