Namur store championship

By rookie35, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday i took part in a store Championship held at Namur (Belgium), 34 people participated, which is just massive, by Belgian tournament standards.

The tournament was held in a beautiful restaurant across the store serving some really tasty burgers, burgers and gaming, what can go wrong? :)

My list was a variation of Dash/ Miranda, not the most original, but something i feel comfortable with, since real life really got in the way of my gaming life lately.

Card by card it was like this:

Dash: with title, HLC, lone wolf, Rey, smuggling compartments and burn-out slam

Miranda: autoblaster turret, EM, Sabine, plasma torpedoes, ion bombs, cluster mines and advanced slam total: 99 points

First Round:

Opponent Steve: he was playing the following: Miranda: TLT and Rey

warden squadron with Sabine, EM, connor net and cluster mines (TLT also?)

Y-wing with TLT, stressbot ant BTL-title

I gave him the initiative so my Miranda would move last, hopefully being able to SLAM/bomb herself out of any mess, he set up in the middle of the board, i chose the left corner setting up Dash vertically and Miranda horizontally so they would move away from each other and activate lone wolf quickly. With lone wolf and Rey banking focus tokens, Dash isn't too worried about stress, Miranda however is really shut down by it, so my primary target was his stresshogg.

We both slow-rolled a bit in the beginning, banking focus on Rey, he moved straight up the board, i both horizontally and vertically. after a few turns the shooting began and my Miranda got stressed and seriously shot at, i got his stresshogg on 1 hull however and the following turn Sabine threw an ion bomb at it and finished it off, first blood for me!

Unable to slam due to stress, and not having TLT herself Miranda got hunted down by his Miranda, putting him in the lead. The game evolved in a deadly dance between Dash and his K-wings, fortune favored me a bit as he parked his warden on a rock and i was able to finish it off with HLC, but in the end it came down to one hull Miranda shooting at one hull Dash, Miranda's higher pilot skill was the real game winner. Steve later on went top 4 with this list

Loss 69-100

Pro's: really great game, soooo close

cons : maybe TLT instead of torps and autoblaster? (i had a one point initiative bid), maybe target his miranda first

I will try to post the rest of the rounds soon

As promised here are the other rounds:

Second round: Robin playing Soontir Fel (standard build),

Vessery with Tie-D title, tractor , Beam and VI

scimitar squadron bomber with plasma torps

I gave away the initiative again, because i like to move Miranda as late as possible, he set up bomber and Vessery dead centre, ready to joust, i set up Miranda Dash in my usual X/Y-formation, Soontir was placed on the opposite flank. First turns were spent with dash easing up the board edge, stacking focus on Rey, and Miranda heading up the centre, SLAMming up the field and dropping a cluster bomb in front of Vessery, Vess banked away only to clip the outer mine stripping two of his shields, Dash's shooting on vessery was mildly succesfull taking away the last shield. Mean while Soontir had turned in to engage, but likewise his shooting at Dash was cold.

In the next rounds Dash turned in wide with a 3-hard, barrel roll tot the outside keeping distance between him and the opponent, Miranda turned in and managed to ion bomb a stressed Soontir, setting him on a collision with the remaining cluster mines. having to choose my opponent decided to sacrifice Vessery, flying him through the mines and killing him to save Soontir.

A bad choice, as dash's next shot was smoking hot and evaporized a tokenless Soontir, all that was left was to mop up the Bomber and chalk up a win.

Win: 100-0

Pro's: good game, hitting with two bombs

con's: my opponent being a bit sloppy , forgetting to clear stress with Soontir

Round 3: opponent: Rapha flying Rey: with Finn, Kanan, title, counter measures, smuggling compartment and scavenger crane

Jan Ors with TLT, Nien Numb, ...?

Again i got the initative with my one point bid and gave it promptly away, wanting see were the falcon moves first, i chose to set up in the lower right corner X/Y-style, my opponent deployed in the diagonally opposite corner. First rounds were a bit boring, me easing across the bord waiting out the Falcon's approach, he did a nice little double sloop move to castle up in his corner, waiting me out, in the end we both moved forward and started shooting though, initial shots were quite even with shields blinking out on both falcon and Dash, Miranda was able to move in unharmed and managed to ion bomb Rey, buying Dash a turn to get the hell out of dodge!

Luck was firmly on my opponent's side however, as Rey managed to miss an asteroid by less than a millimetre twice, in the end Dash bought it in the same turn that Jan Ors died to a well placed autoblaster shot, Leaving an almost intact Miranda tot duke it out with a shieldless Rey, not unwinnable.

I called his sloop good and managed to cluster mine the Falcon, sadly only scoring .3 damage, including Sabine, worse, my autoblaster shot that turn missed completely. To make a bad situation worse he scored a major explosion on Miranda which i rolled into a direct hit, leaving Miranda on one hull :(. Next turn a last ditch bomb by Miranda was missed and she was blown to stardust. Rapha later went on to win the tournament

Loss:

63-100

Pro's really tight game, just the way it should be

Con's : Lady Luck taking a lunchbreak

Fourth and final round:,

opponent: Nick playing Palp aces: Whisper: VI, FCS, rebel captive, ACD

omega leader juke, comm relay (what else :P)

captain Yorr with palp and collision detector

Last round had me playing fellow ego squadron teammate Nick, as we were both at 1-2 this was definately a banter heavy matchup. My setup was the same as before, X/Y-corner, he set up whisper and omega central and Yorr facing Dash.

Using his collision detector Yorr zoomed straight for Dash, going over a few debris tokens on the way, really sweet, Miranda SLAM'ed upfield, trying (yes trying) to drop a cluster bomb on Whisper, he managed to evade that one however with a one hard right, he couldn't evade the ion bomb next turn however and an ionized whisper was shot off the board by combined fire from Dash and Miranda's autoblaster,

Omega had Dash locked, so i tried to focus down on the shuttle next, Dash got a bit carried away, Shadows of the Empire style, and flew over Miranda's cluster mines however, popping four of his shields, halving him!!! a second cluster drop by miranda took out the shuttle fortunately and after that omega was hunted down, but not before she put Dash on one hull so i was able to chalk up my second win.

Win: 100-27

With this i ended up 2-2 with an MOV of 504, netting me 12th place out of 34, so all in all reasonably succesfull
