Just got my 3rd win ever...in 25 games (learning experiences).

Kinda happy so gonna recap it here.

Opponent was running PS10 RAC with Kylo Crew, Gunner, Hot Shot Co, Engine Upgrade, and Dauntless. Also had PS10 Vader with adaptibility, engine, and advanced targeting comp.

I was running PS8 Boba with Lone Wolf, Recon Spec, HLC, and Countermeasures. Also had Whisper with VI, Advanced Sensors, Recon Spec, and Advanced Cloak.

What followed was many parts luck and alot of fun.

Round 1: Set up split apart Whisper up top and Boba on the bottom. He set his deci and vader in line with Whisper at the top. He charged hard with RAC and an engine boost to take a shot which whisper evaded while cloaked.

Round 2: Whisper decloaked and moved to block the deci. RAC overlapped and used dauntless to boost for a R1 shot on a 2 dice whisper. 4v2...and lost 2s. Vader turned in towards Boba who was sweeping up from the bottom of the board. His range 3 shot on Boba missed as well. Whisper threw down 3 hits and and Boba 3 hits after lone wolf focus killing vader whose green dice came up empty.

Round 3: The deci turned towards the bottom of the board and whisper followed. Boba turned right for a shot at RAC but RAC overlapped next turn out. Range 2 obstructed shot from RAC made it all the way through Whisper's 5 dice for 1 crit and a direct hit....boom whispers dead.

Round 4: RAC is sitting on 12 hull and 1 shield. Boba has full 6 hull and 4 shields. Now kylo goes to work. I k turn hoping for a shot but he boosts out of arc. Takes a turret shot which does not land thanks to lone wolf.

Round 5: RAC in front of Boba at range 2 moving along the bottom of the board. I turn in he trys to blind me and only takes 2 shields instead. I land some hull dmg with HLC.

Round 6: We end up close in R1. I use countermeasure but he blinds boba and deals 1 h dmg anyway. I get no return shot.

Round 7: I turn hard left for a rear arc shot. Pointing to the edge. He turns hard right to the top of the board. Then I land a crit which removes his pilot skill and VI!! Thats when the game changed. Him on 6 hull and Boba with only 5. But now i can shoot first thanks to initiative.

Next round and pull hard right on to th edge of the board. He moves out of range. Lines up a range 3 shot on me thats obstructed and rolls blanks on first attack, gunner, and the target lock reroll.....no crit to be found.

I eventually K turn to set up a slow roll run with HLC which lands 3 hits and the win with 4 hull remaining.....

Yes I got crazy lucky. Yes he was crazy unlucky to lose his pilot ability. Yes my red dice were on fire.

But....long live Boba / Whisper !!!

Sounds like a lot of fun! You went up against a really nasty combo in RAC/Kylo with a well built Boba, fought one amazingly close game and turned it with a rear arc shot. Hell. Yeah.

This time against.....

Leebo: HLC, Outrider, Lone Wolf, Rey

Chewie: Cruise Missles, Adrenaline Rush , Scavenger Crane, Millenium Falcon, Wookie Commandos

Same list for me as before:

PS8 Boba with Lone Wolf, Recon Spec, HLC, and Countermeasures. Also had Whisper with VI, Advanced Sensors, Recon Spec, and Advanced Cloak

This time the PS advantage was significant but once again the win came down to a truck load of luck.

Set Up: He split chewie and leebo at opposit ends of the board. Chewie on top corner facing down and leebo on bottom corner facing up. I set Boba at the bottom across from Leebo and Whisper facing down towards boba about range 4 away.

Round 1: Left bank from leebo and a straight two from chewie. I hard 1 turn in with whisper into a cloak and send Boba all forward 4 to trade HLC shots. Recon spec to focus modify take 2s off leebo. His return shot takes 1s would have been 3 if not for Rec Spec and Lone Wolf.

Round 2: Leebo does a straight 1 up the board. Chewie a 3 bank turning in towards boba. I do a 1 left bank to put both sheeps right in arc and to get into R1 of Leebo to negate his shot. Whisper decloaks left and pushes 4 forward to the middle of the board but leebo/chewie remain out of arc. Fearing a 4 dice cruise missle shot from Chewie I use counter measures and toss the TL. Leebo takes a 4 dice primary from Boba and loses a few more shields.

Round 3: Leebo turns up the board and takes a stress from a debri. Chewie moves up the board to the back right of Leebo. Whisper decloaks left up towards the top of the board and does a 2 bank down around a rock. Ends up R1 along side leebo and facing down Chewie at R1. Boba turns right 3 to clear any blocking for a rear shot but overlaps a rock that does no dmg. Whisper knocks off a bunch of Chewies shields. Leebo takes a 4 dice shot on Boba that takes off 3 shields. Chewie takes 2 of Whispers shields with a 4 sice shot. At this point Boba is on 1 shield and Leebo is on 5 hull no shields.

Round 4: Leebo does another 1 forward. Chewie surprises me with a hard 2 left into the middle. I send boba down off the rock towards the bottom of the board out of range. Whisper facing the bottom of the board decloaks left and hard 1 turns in hoping for a R1 shot on chewie. Instead he has him at R2 and chooses to shoot at Leebo who is just barely in arc instead. Whispers attack on leebo brings him down to 1 hull. Leebos return gets blocked by a perfect 4 evades from whisper. Chewies shot...also blocked!

Round 5: Leebo banks right 3 towards the top right corner. Whisper decloaks right towards the top of the board to follow. Hard 1 turns right. And has leebo in arc with only 1 hull remaining at R2. Chewie does a 3 kturn and adrenline rushes to make it white. Boba turns back in towards the fight but is still out of range. Whispers shot does no dmg. Leebos shot does no dmg. Chewies shot on whisper......lands a crit. Damaged Engine all turns are red for Whisper.....

Round 6: Whispers revenge. Leebo turns hard 1 right into the corner. Chewie takes a bank left 3 towards the top right. Boba sweeps up with a left 1 bank. Whisper decloaks right and then advanced sensors rigth to clear a rock and do a 2 forward for a R1 shot. All 5 shots are hits and....boom no more leebo! Chewies shot in on Boba brings him down to 4 hull. Boba strips a few more shields off Chewie and has him down to 8 hull.

Round 7: Chewie turns hard two right towards the bottom. Boba blasts by with a 4 forward and nothing in arc. Whisper decloaks right and advanced sensor barrel rolls right to the very edge of the board than 3 k turns with his butt on the edge of the board to allow a soft green two next round and to stay our of range from Chewie. Shots in on boba miss thanks to lone wolf.

Round 8: Boba turns left away from battle and out of range. Chewie sweeps in at whisper in the corner. Whisper banks in and takes 2 hull off chewie.

Round 9: whisper jukes decloak left and than barrell roll right to do a 3 k turn on an unsuspecting chewie in the corner. 5 hits bring him down to 1 hull...chewie kills whisper in reply

Round 10: Boba turns back into the fight slow rolls up to a r3 hlc shot on chewie from behind a rock. 4 hits using a focus and lone wolf! And boom game!

Recap: A LOT of dice roll luck and exactly 2 more k turns from whisper than I ever would have imagined.....kept whisper alive on 1 hull for 3 rounds of combat making that final 5 dice shot on the wookie possible...rec spec on whisper made a huge difference. And leaving boba out of the furrball after the initial engagement allowed him to roll in hard on his terms right at the end.

Hide your turrets, hide your wookies. Whisper and Boba Fett are hunting and usually losing. These close wins are tough to come by but when they rarely happen dang is it satisfying.

And exactly 2 more than your opponent probably expected, too, which is important! If you're prepared to use the full dial of a phantom, this is why advanced sensors are awesome; anything which can barrel roll or boost then Koiogran or segnor is slippery as hell.

Agreed. I had a blast last night in a game at our club which came down to literally the last shot of the last turn (with a TIE fighter, too; this wasn't....and now "Fenn gets to shoot, good game", or anything).

Looking at the reports, I'm trying to judge (like I said in the turrets thread) how often you're getting an HLC shot? It looks like 2-3 ish shots a game? You definitely did the right thing hitting the gas and getting in under the Outrider's turret sweep.

Thanks! A base 2 dice shot to win the game? Nice.

Im kinda glad I got hit with that crit because it forced me to fly Whisper differently and sort out using K-Turns and banks more regularly. Its such a gamble though not getting the 4 green dice after. Seems to be great for sacrifice play kill shots though :)

As for HLC on Boba...I think I generally use it at least 3 times a game. The first attack, the third attack and then hopefully towards the end. Lone Wolf has increased that # since he lives longer, but so does engine upgrade since its easier to sweep and k turn.

Ultimately the HLC is kinda a defensive weapon and part of getting to that 97 pt bid in my book. Fenn Rau is a problem with arc dodging but so is any other 9 ptl ace, might end up with VI for boba again. As for HLC i never really want to take a target lock with so many turrets around since 100% of the time i want the double focus to modify my defense dice and my attack dice or an evade token.

What I really need on the firespray is basically the Dauntless title from he Deci. That would be huge!

Saving room for bombs might make sense and I have messed with Ions or Protons or bomblet to discourage multiple ships from getting in close, but I havent gotten the hang of it yet.

Well, PS9 aces is something Whisper can handle (provided you keep the nice initiative bid).

I get the need to keep focusing; recon specialist has always been a good option for a firespray.

To be fair, dauntless is designed to pair with Oicunn's ability (it's his ship!) and is not so much 'bumping insurance' as it is 'ramming speed!' - that's a damnscary ship, especially kitted out 'properly' (Dauntless/Engine Upgrade/Daredevil/Inspiring Recruit/Bo'Shek/Mara Jade) for extreme ramming skills.

This report is short and to the point...because its a loss and got very well out played.

Boba and Whisper went into a fight against Nym and Miranda.

Whisper ate a rock and then ate a bomblet generator to the face.

Boba lone wolf rec spec trucked his way through the TLT game....getting Nym down to 5 hull and Miranda down to 4 hull, before a Miranda primary turret finished him off at R1.

Race against turret time...was lost.

The bombs only accounted for 3 or 4 dmg total but they controlled my movement in ways that prevented Boba from getting 2 or 3 shots in arc.

Lesson learned...Rec Spec + Lone Wolf is actually kinda solid at fighting off TLT shots.

Bombs are a big deal not because of damage but because they basically control your opponents dial and they deny shots.

Indeed. Twin Laser Turrets aren't that hard to avoid, but they're good enough to get through unmodified dice fairly reliably. Which is why things which work whenever you're attacked, like Lone Wolf or Autothrusters, really cut into their effectiveness. I've seen someone use a Guri build before with Sensor Jammer, Autothrusters and Lone Wolf and it really felt like firing twin laser turrets was just a complete and utter waste of time.

Unlucky with whisper; if the game was that close, then a couple more 4-dice shots from the phantom could probably have swung it.

Another Loss to report in.

Dont remeber the exact match up but it was something like this:

Norra: PTL, Nien Nub, Something else

Wullfwarro: Rage, Finn, Something else

Cassian Andor: Inspiring Recruit, Pivot

This time out I swapped Countermeasures for Cruise Missiles and Guidance chips on Boba.

Early on I sent Whisper around to flank to get behind his formation. Sent Boba on a slow roll and unfortunately ended up right in front of all 3 of his ships at range 1.

Recon spec helped a bunch but still lost all my shields and 2 hull which were crits in the first round of combat. Stripped Norras shields on the way out. Missed having countermeasures immediately.

Whisper got in behind both Wulf and Cassian and took two focus modified shots on Cassian that both missed entirely. Wulff got no shots for 2 rounds of combat. Whisper eventually killed Cassian with a R1 shot.

Norra chased Boba who sat on 1 hull for at least 4 rounds!! Lone Wolf rec spec where again huge. Whittled Norra down to 5 hull.

Then on the last turn of the game after pushing a crit through with Whisper on Norra who was stressed I forgot he had nien nub and that his 4 forward wasnt red.

I got a cruise missle shot off with Boba and the combo of focus TL made that a 4 dice shot leaving norra on 1 hull after a direct hit.

Instead of decloaking left for a 1 turn and 4 dice shot...i got greedy assuming he could only move 1 or 2 to clear the stress and barrel rolled right in front of him. Ended up behind him at R1 with whisper having no shot. One shot took all of whispers shields and hull, boom dead.

Wulff on full health hit Boba with a 4 dice range 3 attack thanks to finn and his 180 arc plus rage. Turned into 4 hits and the game ended.

Overall....i got out flown.

I could have brought Norra down on the round that i lost whisper and then would have been 1 on 1 with Wulff of nearly full health. A even matchup.

Instead...that 4 green ended whisper in one R1 shot :)

Kudos to the dude for running a raging wookie with cassian to clear the stress. It was neat.

Lesson learned...the potential extra 5 dice from Cruise missles is not better than counter measures and HLC.

"Played" against a thing i didnt know existed until now. I got hit with 3, six dice six hit shots. And 4 TLT shots at once in 2 separate rounds.

Three words:

Kanan Biggs..............

Terrifying

Managed to at least kill Biggs :)

Picked up this list again.....**** is it still fun.........two unlikely wins to report in.

Still convinced after trying out Whisper with FCS for awhile that Advanced Sensors + (Rec Spec or Intel Agent) + lucky dice is sorta better for him given all the hard whisper counters in the meta right now ( looking at you Nym ).
