Imperial counter Yavaris list.

Hi all, I have recently got hooked to Armada and have had a couple or great days at store championships here in the UK. I have come up against various Rebel lists using Yavaris, 2 relay sqns, 2 Escort sqns, Jan, Ten Num, plus 1 other bomber using Yavaris to activate twice, plus one other card to add an extra activation. (Sorry, as an Empire player I don't know all the cards or sqns used.) These lists have either just used the sqns as is or Quantum Storm to rapid launch the Bombers right in front of my VSD, resulting in a dead VSD.

Is there a counter to this, or is it a case of fighting fire with fire? Going for 2 Tie bombers, 2 Advanced Ties, Jendon, Dengar and a couple of Decimators in a similar way? (OK, I don't need the Decimators, but who doesn't love their impact?)

In the last store champs I played, after the first round it was 2 of the above Rebel lists both winning 10-1 after the first round and one going on to win the whole thing. Having 1 Neb and a Peltor as your only proper ships with 3 or 4 GR 75's is a bit cheesy, but it works and you have to admire the firepower of the list.

Hopefully Sloane and a lot of Tie's will be a counter, but I haven't got my Quasar yet. Any suggestions for countering the Yavaris effect would be gratefully received.

Well, get Saber squadron and try to snipe Jan so the bombers will be tied up.

TIE fighters vs Ten Numb is a BIG NO NO. To take down Ten Numb, you might wanna use decimators .

A good favorite fighter combo is this:

-Soontir Fel plus escorts

And then, to counter the pelta, yavaris, 3-4 GR-75 list you get a Demolisher and get Captain Jonas near the GR-75s, and those things pop easy.

Unfortunately I got into Armada after the Correllian campaign became rarer than hens teeth

So no Jonas for me. Is it H9's that give an acc?

Yes. H9s allow you to turn a hit icon to an accuracy icon. Alternatively, for a few points more, use an intel officer. Target braces and scatters with that and watch the hard choices begin.

H9s do work, though not on Demo, since it doesn't have a turbolaser slot. Though Intel officer does work too, though it'll take an extra turn to kill them.

Maybe try boarding troopers on ISDs? ( plus avenger, it would be KILLER.) With avenger, you could swap boarding troopers for OP on a raider.

Don't worry, the Corellian Conflict reprint is on the boat, so wait another month or so and you'll have a regular-priced copy.

Oh right one more counter...Raiders with OE, Kallus, Impetous, and Flechette torpedoes. Disables those squadrons, rendering those Yavaris lists useless. Keep two Flechette torpedo Raiders just in case the bombers jump the one Raider before it attacks. I'd recommend adding Flechette torpedoes to both your raiders, as you have the necessary upgrades on there already.

You don't need BCC with only 2 bombers in a list. Get disposable capacitors on the VSD even at he expense of H9s.

Raiders are good at anti fighter but if the Rebels have 2 B-Wings or Scruggs Yavaris will double tap them into oblivion long before the counter (1) takes effect.

Take out the BCC, put D-caps on the VSD, move expanded hangar bays to the Gozanti, take out the two TIE Bombers, add Maarek for Jendon to double tap. Move Jerry to the VSD, put FT on Kallus's Raider. Then put SFO on the VSD, and you have one point left over.
