Dwarf solo deck

By chopan, in Strategy and deck-building

Hi guys, I'm trying to build a dwarf deck for playing solo, first and second cycle. Cardpool is not a problem. I have looked into rings.db but haven't seen anything that I like or maybe I'm not looking thw right way.

Can anyone help me with a good and solid dwarf deck?

Thanks!!

Have you read the thread from a month ago:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/251564-trying-to-build-a-good-dwarf-themed-solo-deck/

That has links to several decks and discussion. But it also might help if you tell us what you didn't like about decks you found on ringsdb. The basics of a good dwarf solo deck from the first two cycles amount to this:

1) Start with Dain and two other dwarf heroes

2) Fill your deck with dwarf allies

3) Get as many allies out as quick as you can

The only twist is that if you include a spirit hero, you can also include Imaldris Stargazer and go mining for resources.

Here's the three most liked dwarf decks (include Dain) on ringsdb that are drawn from only the first two cycles and seem to be designed for solo. If you've looked at these decks already and rejected them, please tell us what you don't like about them:

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/3470/deck-tech-dwarf-starter-deck-1.0 (Dain/Bifur/Gimli)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/248/dwarf-progression-khazad-dum-dwarrowdelf-cycle-2.0 (Dain/Bifur/Thalin)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/1745/dwarf-lore-leadership-1.0 (Dain/Bifur/Gloin)

A couple other ringsdb decks with different hero lineups:

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/3393/the-first-to-reach-khazad-dum-1.0 (Dain/Gloin/Dwalin)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/5461/built-a-dwarf-deck-for-randyman-1.0 (Dain/Bifur/Dwalin, built for and referenced in previous thread)

There don't seem to be any all-dwarf decks with just the first two cycles exploiting mining, and both decks that use both Dain and the Stargazer are designed for fellowships (multiple decks that work together) rather than solo use. A problem with the mining archetype as part of a dwarf deck using just the first two cycles is that Dwalin is the only spirit dwarf and there are only two dwarf allies (Zigil Miner and Bofur)--double spirit doesn't lend itself well to a dwarven swarm, and getting both pieces of the combo out quickly is tough with only Dwalin to pay for it.

If you want to draw from the full card pool and just want to use the deck against the first two cycles, your options are broader. Here's the five most-liked dwarven swarm decks using Dain:

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/104/quad-sphere-dwarf-swarm-cotr-deckbox-1.0 (Dain/Bifur/Oin)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/3057/model-un-1.0 (Dain/Eowyn/Beorn -- but the allies are all dwarves + stargazer)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/1373/azainy-dwarf-deck-2.0 (Dain/Ori/Oin)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/2181/disgusting-dwarf-swarm-a-k-a-dwarf-barf-1.0 (Dain/Ori/Bombur)

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/2257/the-horde-of-erebor-1.0 (Dain/Ori/Nori)

And I can't resist throwing in a deck that also has Thorin:

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/2720/the-power-of-erebor-1.0 (Dain/Thorin/Bifur)

Thorin's great without Dain:

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/1327/deck-tech-the-quest-for-the-arkenstone-1.0 (Thorin/Bombur/Ori)

You can even try Ori without Dain or Thorin:

http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/856/reclaiming-khazad-dm-1.0 (Balin/Oin/Ori)

Any solo deck is going to find Escape from Dol Goldur and Return to Mirkwood a challenge, and Shadow and Flame is going to be tough for any swarm deck (the Balrog keeps killing your allies). But other than those three quests, I think any decent swarm deck will do OK in these two cycles.

Thanks, I'll look into them and let you know.

I really liked the tech deck starter dwarf. I have the first 2 cycles, plus The Ringmaker and both Hobbit sagas plus Black Riders. Maybe use that one as a base and improve it?

I saw many others from the links you sent but some of them were made to play along others. The Quadsphere I liked it too, I'll try that one out on OCTGN.

Those are my favorite so far, I'm concerned about questing mainly simce I'm playing solo.

Thanks for your comments I'm not really good at deck building.

Ringmaker cycle and Black Riders doesn't really do anything for the dwarven swarm, but the two hobbit sagas give you some *great* Dwarf swarm heroes and unique dwarf allies. I think you'll find that most full card-pool dwarven swarm can be easily adapted to the card pool you have.

So you'd recommend to try and adapt the quadsphere deck? I liked that one, even though I haven't played it.
