Heroes and Monster Collections Rules

By topacesteve, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello, do you know about the single (basic or epic) quests introduced with the Heroes and Monster Collections, if they are better optimised as a single player experience using the included 4 heroes

that came with the quest ? e.g. Heroes from Bonds of the Wild , Lyssa etc. Or are they played as well using any combination of heroes?

I guess your question is on a 4 heroes vs. 1 OL game as there is no basic or epic variant for the RtL side quest that comes with the H&MC. But what do you mean by "single player experience" ?

To my knowledge from the written rules and/or experience, there is no inherent preference in these quests for the heroes which came with the collection. They are obviously designed for certain monster groups, but those monsters are always part of the setup.

I was wrong using the word SINGLE - i meant as a better player experience using the included heroes , but i found that FFG already clarified that the 2 included quests are optimised to

highlight the abilities of the included monsters and heroes for each pack.

Can you link that reference, please?

I think the OP is referring to https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2014/11/7/hero-and-monster-collections/ .

Second paragraph from the bottom: "These quests are designed to highlight the full strengths and abilities of the monsters and heroes included in any collection."

That statement was kinda odd, it's like it wants to say the included heroes are ideal for the quest, but then at the last second it undergoes a plot twist and becomes all-inclusive. Like someone went in and changed "the" to "any".

So there is your answer OP, they're designed to fit in anywhere.
