There is a question that asks if a ship overlapping an asteroid can still perform free actions and FFG answers yes. So a defender with the X7 title should still get the evade token of overlapping an asteroid, as long the other requirements were met, correct?

No, because the title specifically prohibits it. Errata text: "After executing a 3-, 4-, or 5-speed maneuver, if you did not overlap an obstacle or ship, you may perform a free evade action." (emphasis added)

I should have double checked the erratta for that card. But you are allowed other free actions?

Yes, if you've got another source for free actions, being on an asteroid doesn't prevent them.

(Note that the asteroid might still prevent the specific action. I.e. if you're on an asteroid such that there's no way to place a 1-straight maneuver template on the front or sides of your ship that doesn't overlap the asteroid, you couldn't do a free boost or barrel roll action off the asteroid without Collision Detector.)

You mean did the FAQ lie to you? :P

Nah, just the first card i thought of that gives you a free action.
