That whole interview kinda made my day. It's a pleasure hearing the designers talk shop and casually answer some of the questions and grievances of the forumites.
They also told me what I want to ask for this Christmas. . .

Well we were really enthusiastic about the Scurrg and had a ton of fun designing it. We're totally happy to see Scum dominate the meta and are hoping that Worlds this year will be completely dominated by them. We totally phoned in the Rebel and Imp ships- we honestly didn't have time for them considering how much care and time we spent with the Scurrg.

I like to call that the perfect storm game design problem. A lot of times, elements themselves arnt overpowered but when they all come together in such a way as the jumpmaster does... similar ships like the Wild Space Fringer didnt see play at all. So we kept pushing the envelope, and we pushed it too far.
We try to get it right but every once in awhile, we get it pretty wrong.
