Empire at War Pre-Orders

By AgentoftheEmpire, in Star Wars: Destiny

Is there any word on whether or not Team Covenant's stock for Empire at War pre-orders is already sold out? Or are they waiting to open up pre-orders at a later time for some reason?

I've also been a bit weirded out by this, and I've been on their email waitlist for this product for a while. I doubt they've already filled all the orders they're going to take, because there should be a lot more future stock for EaW than Awakenings reprints, but they're still accepting Awakenings preorders.

My guess is they just don't have it set up yet. Fingers crossed we'll hear from them soon.

I assume the Asmodee distribution change-over means this is one of the first products fully effected, and hence, it's all running behind the normal curve

Glad to know that I am not the only one who is slightly concerned.

Its still at the printer, so they could be waiting until it hits the boat.

I have been told by my local game store that they now have to go through FFG/Asmodee as they can no longer order as they have before through their distributor. It would seem that this change has effected more than a few stores and may be why we are not seeing preorders for Empire At War as they are waiting to hear what they will be receiving.

TC has their waitlists up because they don't start accepting preorders until they know how many boxes they will have to allocate to preorders. They handled the other Destiny material and indeed the LCGs the same way.

I agree that TC has always done this with Destiny (do not know about how they handle other games as I have only ordered Destiny Saga Sets from them.). What is different this time around is finding a store that is taking preorders for this new set that is coming out in two/three months. Not the end of the world but very different than how things have been done with past releases for those who preorder.

I messaged TC on this and they told me they were just 'pre-staging' the Empire saga set item in the store. None have actually been ordered/sold yet.

So I found a store in Michigan doing preorders... should I be concerned for some reason that they're doing them already?

Well EaW just hit "On the boat", so it may be a little while still before they start taking money. Probably won't see much happen until GenCon.

Good news Mep, 6-8 weeks, we should start seeing more of the set spoiled over the next few weeks.

Anyone think they'll do another prerelease event, or after the last fiasco are they just going to pass on that?

I'm sure they will do another pre-release event. They are always well attended (at least in my area). They certainly help drive business to the stores. Hopefully they'll have learned from last time and get the product distribution situation fixed.

The SoR prerelease went really well in my area, so I'm really hoping there's another prerelease! I like the atmosphere of the prerelease - everybody wants to trade, and nobody's worried about how much the cards are worth, or what's competitive, etc. Everybody just seems to have more fun at the prerelease!

I doubt there will be any more pre-releases. FFG I believe was quoted saying that they weren't going to try it again (too many complications with SoR, and a last-second decision for the company).

Do you have a source for that? That makes me really sad if true... I'll have to help my FLGS host an unofficial realease party or something...

This is not the current FFG model for tournament supported games. Yes, their first two for Destiny has cost them more (because of complications and last second air deliveries) but the plan is not to stop these events. The plan is to fix the issues that are causing them to NEED expensive last minute air delivers.

Last I heard from the official mouth piece of FFG, they thought they would have this under control by June. SoR was better for sure, but still not where they would like the game to be production wise. Here's hoping EaW is even easier to find and restock.

EaW is getting spoiled in 4 weeks at gencon like milk left in the hot sun for 3 days straight.

Pretty sure some type of pre-release will happen at gencon. If they do some kind of wide spread pre-release again I wouldn't expect it to happen a month before release. Probably just a week in advance with the entire shipment on hand so more stores get the pre-release. More likely they will just do a release event of some kind, probably a tournament kit to correspond with the release date.

I just placed mine!

I don't see them on TC's website? Did you order with somebody else?

I just got an email from TC that they're taking saga set preorders, and that they opened up more slots for their box subscription.

Ok, thanks! I'm gonna wait until the booster boxes hit. Although a Saga Set seems like a pretty good deal.

Yeah, got a "restocking" email from Team Covenant and pulled the trigger right away. The earlier the pre-order the better chance of it being fulfilled in the first wave.
