Yep

I'm not sure I'd call this a "defensive character," but he's designed to be strong on defense: http://swsheets.com/c/myu4cmeqy-denthos-ren

Still not 100% sure I'll be able to play, but I think I can make time for it, August isn't looking too rough.

Sorry to ask but if you have choosen the Morality Bonus for 2500,- Credits you would have to use white side Pips (morality 50 = white side pips by start) for the Black side you would have to use the -21 morality option.

(or do i have misread something in the tournament rules??)

Interesting, I was assuming you could choose to be a Dark Side user with 50 morality, but I suppose if I have to use Light Side pips that's OK

Character Creation rules:

Start with standard Character Creation, no Obligation or Duty will be used, instead each player has a choice of one of the following:

+10xp

+5xp and +1000 credits

+2500 credits

+/- 21 Morality <-- This would be obsolet then ^^

After completing standard character creation the character also gains:

+300xp and +18000 credits to spend. No vehicles, mounts, or Weapons that use the Gunnery skill... anything else goes!

I thought you weren't forced into having to use light or dark side pips until at 70/30 morality. Someone at 50 should be able to use either they just gain conflict for using dark.

IMO you can roleplay a "dark sider" while still using White pips.

But yeah if you want to benefit from the Destiny-Point-flipping thing, and use dark side pips, then you'd have to forego the extra credits/XP and choose the Morality option.

Yeah, it's basically there so someone can choose to play using the Dark Side. It a lot of ways it's useful, especially if you only need 1 pip per Die to activate a power since there's a slightly higher chance of rolling Dark.

Here's my submission. http://swsheets.com/c/1jsdxq6yl--omega-

Like I say in the description I think I've made a glass cannon, I don't foresee many close battles with this character. I think I'll either lose big or win big, but we'll see.

BTW: which defens rules will we use?

a.) everything stacks

b.) only highste source

c.) highest source + cover

d.) something else

???

Reminder: One day left for application

It's taken me a little while to think about this. I feel like b.) is what we should do although I'm happy to go with c.) too

I think a.) is something to test out before using it, with a Cortosis Shield, Pewered Armour and Improved Armour Master you can hit 5 Defense and still have room for a Saber with a cheap crystal or Training emitter and a heavy pistol... and Sense with 2 upgrades to the attack! That's great, but perhaps swings the combat far in favour of defence which leads to a much longer encounter.

With option b.) a character can choose the highest source of Ranged defence, melee defense and Soak, which usually means 2's across the board with a Shield and Laminate (or Chitin)

Here's my entrant: PNG0-LIN ("Pango") . Note that this is a droid that throws grenades. And I have no idea what I'm doing. Perhaps a Jedi with Reflect will bat away all my grenades and kill me in one round.

Also note that IRL I'll be driving cross-country starting tomorrow, so it may take me a few days to write up this little guy's background, motivations, etc.

(By the way, is there any frame story for this tournament? Something in the narrative to explain why all these characters are fighting each other? We need the Star Wars version of M. Bison!)

Lots of stories had crossed my mind. It seems very "Lego Star Wars - The Computer Game" to me in the cartoonish nature of PvP and resetting after each battle. It's also very MOBA.

Given the setting though it's better as something to do with the Force or Bounty Hunting.

Ok so we go with EotE ruling of "defensive" not incresing the overall rating, instead of the F&D "defensive" does increase the overall rating.

Sad for my shield build, will have to discard it hence a shield in this ruling won't do anything but adding encumberance.
But therefore I am able take the rest money to try to improve one attachment instead. *fingers crossed for luck on that*

How about the typical "DoA-Tournament" story.

Each one of particitans has been choosen to compete in an all out tournament. Each one may has his own reason to battle with in, but the overall 10,000,000.- Credits reward for the sole survivor makes a nice addition to this reasons.

Since the sponsors want a lot of bloodshed we will provide healing treatment to the extrem during the pre finals (resurecting even the dead - thanks dark harm power/ light heal power) but once the prefights are over death is nearly certain... so consider when to give up...

Shields are still viable, they reduce the overall cost of armour if you want Soak 2 Defence 2 since you can get Laminate and Cortosis Shield for far less than powered armour. The lower Hard point count and requiring 1 hand to use are the main drawbacks

Funny little guy (may steal it for my group as an wrong programmed advasery ^^)

Your Soak should be 6 not 4!
brawn 2 + Soak 2 of the heavy armor + Soak 2 from enduring = 6 in total

And since you used your dedication for intelect it should be at 2 not at 1 ^^

But there fore the Armor I choose gives also a strength and an athletics Upgrade and I won't have to care about the extra encumberance of the shield ^^

So no Sir the shield has no purpose here, but it's ok...

Only one more question: are thermaldetonators and shaped thermal detonators allowed? (I'm asking since we banned attillery-skill using weapons with high-end dmg but those flying babies still come in with 20+ dmg and breach 2 wich will be one-hit-kills for most competitors)

Well, in the case of Thermal Detonators they are a short Ranged with a Blast radius of short... so if you miss the entire option of using 3 Advantage to still trigger blast is gone.

Shaped TD's don't have Blast.

I still agree that those two are extremely powerful weapons in this challenge, but I do think the range is the equaliser. Even with Strong Arm they only get to Medium.

IDK, I'm happy to include them, there's other stuff that's just as nasty. Does anyone have any significant complaints about them?

just was asking since you banned the artillery weapons with 15 dmg and 5 pierce and crit 3, while this babys have 20 dmg and BREACH 2 and crit 2.

no problem any where just tring to understand the banning of something less potent over something so destructive.

I have 3 (!) characters that I need to choose between... I'm really bad at this power gaming thing, I can't focus on one idea.

First is a character focused around Essential Kill and Crits; Disruptor Rifle, Vibro Axe, decent armour, but essentially a glass Cannon. Crit you every round until you die.

Second is a Mandalorien Niman Disciple, focused on using Move to bring the opponent close enough to hit, dealing as much strain damage as possible. This one I wanted to use Move without using it for damage dealing, more as a way to control the engagement by bringing Ranged characters into Short or if someone is overpowering him in melee then he can take a break by moving them away to Long. Disarm is also an option.

Third is a Shien. With Sense, Side Step and Defensive Stance it can upgrade attacks 3 times, add in 2 defence and a Lightsaber. Either it gets Ranged attackers with Improved Reflect or Melee attacks face a Brawn 4 Falling Avalanche. Saber Throw is the backup. I really want to combine Shien with the left side of Ataru and the Improved Parry, but it's just too much xp cost.

And I love all of them! Any favourites from the competitors? One you would want to try and crack.
