Sorry About The Mess: A PvP Tournament

To be fair, I think I pulled off a two-weapon attack once despite trying it at least two or three times. It was always from a point of desperation, usually with some melee attacker engaged with me and me near death. In other words, I think the increased difficulty for two weapons was a sufficient balancing factor for Pango. That said, I can see that if I had opted to go Demolitionist/Gunslinger instead of Demolitionist/Mercenary Soldier, I could have abused this system. But I think I side with Night One that barring linked and talents that encourage it, duel wielding shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Arena C 1st match ended by a dual wield attack doing 27 stun damage before soak

Arena C 3rd match ended by a dual wield attack doing 32 damage before soak (your attack)

Arena C final match ended by a dual wield attack doing 38 damage before soak (your attack)

Arena A 1st match an ability was used to change a crit to a second attack doing 21 damage before soak and allowing 2 crits to win

Arena A 3rd match ended by a dual wield attack doing 21 damage before soak

Arena A 4th an ability was used to change a crit to a second attack and a 3rd doing 50 damage before soak

Arena D 3rd match ended by the burn quality allowing damage to be dealt at the begining of a turn going (I'm counting this as 2 attacks maybe burn needs looking at if soak is capped)

Arena D final match ended by a dual wield attack doing 21 stun damage before soak

And these are only the killing blows, yes other dual wield attacks were used in matches that didn't end in a kill but the power of a 2 weapon attack is right up there with Breach and for only 1 additional difficulty dice I's say that the potential to do 21+ damage a turn deserves a look at.

Yep whenever they hit they will be davasting, that is true, and whenever a character uses them primarily of course those will be the one that finish the job.

By the way nice way of researching, did you also did the ration of Hit/kill/miss of dual wield attacks? (I'm just curious but lack the time to do it myself right now ^^)

I am totally with you @SithArissa Autofire, linked and 2 Weapon Attacks are extremly powerfull espacially against class cannons (but ok against a class canon everything can work ^^) - and thus should be banned for balance as mentioned in my previous post.

but to be fair: the Crit "Overwhelmed" is quite a special occasion that should not be banned (even if a skilled MA can put it of quite frequently as long as the dice play nice but with out two weapon attacks it is just another dice roll that can suck pretty hard, espacially with the attribute and skill restriction - there is a differnce of throwing 6-8 possitive dice against 3 negative or throwing 4-6 against it). We would have to rewrite the hole crit chart if we start with something like that.

And burn is a quality that is not an extra attack but solemly extra damage - as long as the base damage is over soak. That has nothing to do with the content of attacking twice with the same check.

I do not have the attention span to do ratios and such. Perhaps you should contact another more well known poster who likes trends, statistics, and predictions for that.

I have no problem with the crit its random enough to be just luck based and we can't counter that in a dice based game, now that you bring it up though the MA's skill to manipulate crits might also need to be added to the list of stuff to look at. (That class is so poorly designed I hope the person who did design it got conflict for putting his 9 year old nephews character in a retail book.

Burn still hits twice one of those attacks is all but unavoidable it should be counted as a second attack especially if the soak will be capped. Look at my own fight with cheevil the burn decided the whole fight. That fight also highlights the problem of multiple hits. The fight would have been over in 2 rounds if I didn't have such high parry to take cheevils linked swings.

As an addition were @awayputurwpn less fond of fistycuffs I think there would be a lot more entries in the 2 hit kill list with the number of times he could have used Autofire.

No items, no power ups, only Star Fox, final destination.

Hahaha I think more than once, I increased the difficulty for autofire, then saw the roll and figured out the damage, and was like "nope, that's lame, I'll use the Advantage for something else" :)

Well and the "Autofire-Problem" was already mentioned by RichardBuxton in the opening ruling, so it is not to suprising that it wasn't used (like move was not used by anyone because it would only be a headache for players and GMs.

And you won anyway ;)

Yeah I found myself wishing on more than one occasion that I'd just gone with the much more affordable and Wookiee-appropriate bowcaster. The paltry 2 attachment slots though; just didn't feel very bounty-hunter to me :P

Any more thoughts on a new season?
