It sounds to me like we're talking about a "total cover" situation. Success on the Stealth check means that you can't see your opponent and are unsure of his precise location—he is hidden from you. But if you know his general vicinity, you could always make an attack on the environment with your saber throw (ala Darth Vader) and hope to affect Tanson indirectly with Advantage or directly with Triumph, like Sith Arissa suggested.

Aye I'm cool with that; I very much like to force characters out of their comfort zones in the same way that Cad Bane and Jango Fett often dictated the terms of engagement; if they ever had a "fair" fight against a Jedi they would probably lose. Hence my mentality of setting a trap (because I thought next turn was the turn the Lightsaber was free) and then hiding (because from a thematic example, your character could come from anywhere!) so while I apologise for the layers and layers of startigic planning, it makes a great deal of sense since a single hit with two success will instantly deal with me. XD
TBH I was hoping to generate a double T to break the lightsaber early on, though even if it had broke; I expected brawn checks to really hammer the tar out of me, admit it would probably take 3/4 checks to get that result.

Oh don't get me wrong, I absolutely think you're playing your character perfectly, it's exactly what they would do and it's sensible. I just wanted to make sure we had a balanced opinion solution without either of us seeing it through biased opinions.
ill roll the check shortly and see what happens.
Other possebility:
since Tanson had enought time to hide and make an successfull before Arrther came down the shaft, that Arther would have to make an perception check against the stealth of Tanson +1 Setback for the 2 advantages Tanson rolled in his check.
If he succeeds he may attack with the Lightsaber Throw (which hitted with two successes ) otherwise it would be counted as"Blind-fire" adding 2 Setbacks and need of 4 adv. or a triumph to actually hit.
... but now I realized that all is already done and talked about... I'm just to late for the party (well the trouble of different timezones
)
so I'll leave the comment for future references ^^
Since you weren't targeting Tanson directly, the setbacks seem kind of odd. I would have thought the benefit of the Stealth check ended at the fact that you couldn't directly target Tanson.
I rolled the last check. A total of 35 stun damage divided between two attacks. Wear your Vac's people, Knockout grenades are brutal!*
But yeah; I guess the key thing is that a stealth check at least needs some justification as to how it works. In the given case, Tanson wasn't under any immediate threat and thus he could.

So a requiring a Triumph to hit was enough you think?
Anyway 4 Advantage would not have done enough to stop the onslaught that followed. A lack of assisted breathing was definitely Arrthers downfall.
so we have 3 victors, with the final one close to being decided in the first round.

Yeah, a Triumph to drop stuff on him ![]()
But I agree, the Advantage would only have (at best) delayed the inevitable.
Yeah and I think I have an good Idea who will win the remaining match (looking at the sheets, inventory and the current of the match)
can't wait for round two to start ... (looking at the pairings)... yieks it is again a ranged fellow... it will be Tanson... hope I'm allowed to start closer of this time...

Escaping that glop grenade with weapons intact is the first big hurdle!
well at least I don't need to be afraid of losing my weapons so easyly... I only use my fists and teeth... ehmmm... claws and fangs. But therefore I have no reflect I really need an enviorment that will help me more than Tanson... like the elevator or something like that.
I updated the first post with all the pairings for all 5 rounds, Heat 3A should be fun
Oh yeah, from that round on the enemys will fight honorfull and engage me! (!yeay!)
I'm really looking forward to that match with Arrther! That should be quite interesting. you've got quite the soak and parry AND SENSE to stop my blows, it could take a while to determin the winner (or one of us gets a lot of triumphs and ends it rather quick... but I hope for the former ^^)
(of course I'm also looking forward to take on Tanson, Chevil and Arissa )

Seems like the Force isn't all its made out to be so far.

Honestly it's not but the wonder of the Force in this system is in its versatility, not its outright power. Also I think the Force User characters in this are not using the most powerful options available, such as Bind or Move. Perhaps a FR 4 Seer Ascetic with Bind and Enhance would have been an interesting entrant garenteed 6 Force points on any check with the ability to Immobilise, Stun and Disorient indefinitely... I think I know what I'm doing next Championship!
I think there's two reasons for this.
1) "mundane" characters generally get stronger statistical talents. There are no natural occurrences of deadly accuracy, thus they hit much harder then their force senstive counterparts.
2) Mundane character's don't get force powers, so they can focus on careers/stats better.
3) Force items are really, really, expensive. A lightsaber costs 10k, probably more. A good autofire gun costs much less. Though the breach saber is powerful, a mundane character is generally well equipped.
It all combines to ensure although a force character has sangificant potential, that potential isn't generally met at 300 points.
In all fairness to my matchup, I really shouldn't have won. My entire game was remaining at short range or greater. Sober throw could have cut my life much sooner and, until I remembered the Knockout grenade I had no easy way of dealing with 7 soak and reflect. I was pretty much banking on a Triumphs result to break the saber, even then, if the mando had streight up brawled me I might have been in serious trouble. That Talsman absorbed about 13 potential damage in that entire fight, which even meant firing point blank didn't do that much to harm him. XD It's one of those matchups where I honestly think it would be a one slaughter at my end.
Yeah but your trick grenades literally took the wind out of Arrthers sails ^^
I'm really afraid of those little babys... I think even more than I was about the TDs of Omega
Hm, interesting. I only play one force user and that's in the next round.
Regretting not taking the Krayt dragon crystal even after one fight. Arissa in my campaign is dual wielding sabers so the burn from the ingot was the closest I could get. But its actually turned out kinda useless.

If I'd let you get close to me, it would have been a different story ![]()

Aye, I know that feeling. Balb ingots are basically the worst of the crystals; the main use would be against another duelist; where the steady burn damage could wear them down overtime. People with high soak can more or less tank it though and usually I find it's much better to put pressure on in a duel (Either by threatening a suprise blow with the Ghost Crystal, stamina control, or just being sharp enough to crit them steadily until something gives out) or just hit them really, really hard. Lightsaber duel's are really unforgiving like that.
Out of the four inquisitors Tobin Stryder killed; only 1 has been from exceeding his wound theshold with a lightsaber. One got shot in the face with a dueling pistol after being disarmed, the second got shot with a stun rifle and finished off, and the third died instantly from a lightsaber crit in the opening engage; though he did deal a crippling wound so like the Obi-Maul fight it was memorable. That being said he's the closest the group has to a duelist despite having only 1 tree in it; a mixture of lethal blows, A-lessons kinda does that, even if he's usually a 2-3 turn deal (one saber tree). So despite being a 2000 exp character, he's really good at focused damage (A-Lessons, deadly accuacy on a variety of weapons. Being a masterful artisan.) but less so at dueling (with only one lightsaber tree; he is more relent on his high defence score then anything.)
Just Tanson, unlike his elder brother, has none of his talents in mechanics, self defence or the force. He's just a gunslinger who actually became the charming, relatively cool headed man that Tobin never was (vig and cool is two dice max for him, plus farsight. He normally reacts only after he's been shot. XD). Did I mention the Rodian writes over embellished fan fiction of his own exploits in a journal format? Well, he's trying to be that guy. Lord help him. XD

Aye, and your next. Though I gotta say this looks a terrifying match up, weave that is built into the armour; an item that turns strain into wounds? Not even an obvious weapon to break? However I look at it, this matchup is going to be utter ****. There really is no easy way of taking care of you, though I can think of one way that could happen... A turn 1 kill! Gahahahah!
Now having seen everyone's loadout (I tried to avoid looking at them before finalizing my PC), I'm wishing that I had given Grrwalryyhl some sort of net launcher or something. Everyone in here with their glop grenades... ![]()
That's it folks. SavageBob has won the final heat of round 1... whenever you're ready feel free to move onto round 2!!!
