Pretty much what the title says. Does the barrel roll out boost count towards the activation of intensity?
Intensity and de-cloaking?
No, because decloack isn't an action.
Intensity says, "After you perform a boost or barrel roll action..."
Decloaking is not an action, neither is the boost or barrel roll performed when decloaking.
Intensity card does not specify "action" after the word "boost" so you could argue the decloaking and Tractor Beam boosts would be eligible triggers for Intensity, while the barrel rolls for decloak and Tractor Beam are not eligible triggers because that part of Intensity's card text does specify action.
The card could have said, "After you perform a boost action or barrel roll action..." It doesn't, so there exists a loophole in the card. Maybe it needs a FAQ. Maybe it doesn't.
Edited by jmswoodIt would need a comma to mean what you want it to mean. You're reaching.

You could argue that, but it would be absurd. The text says "boost or barrel roll action", not "boost, or barrel roll action." in the former boost and barrel roll are both actions.
I'm not going to get into a 4 pge back and forth about RAW v RAI and other semantics shenanigans.

It is absurd semantics. That same absurdity would apply to other cards like Jake Farrell and Sabine Wren pilot. I don't play it that way, but I am pointing out that it's possible.

English Grammar is not a winning argument when people who wrote the card also wrote grammatical attrocities like the Hotshot Co-Pilot FAQ. Boost and Barrel Roll are separate game effects with their own rules. A comma isn't necessary to draw that distinction in the context of game rules.
I will concede to all parties that my first reply is not the way I personally believe the card should be played. I'm playing devil's advocate on this one.
Decloak is an entirely different thing. Just because youre doing the motions for a boost or barrelroll doesnt mean you are doing one.
Tractors have you "barrelroll" the target, but it doesnt count as an actual barrelroll. And thats closer to triggering intensity than cloak is.

Have you read the reference cards for either of those game effects? They both use the words boost and barrel roll.
No duh, because thats the best way to tell you how the motions play out. If they left that out they would technically have to explain everything again.
It is NOT a boost or barrelroll because its NOT an action. Otherwise anyone that decloaks with a roll is denied his barrelroll action, or if you boost/barrelrolled a tractor cannot move you at all.
The Tbeam one is a boost or barrel roll. It's just not a boost or barrel roll *action*.
That's the distinction. The (specious and unhelpful) argument at play is that because Intensity doesn't say 'when you execute a boost action or barrel roll action', it triggers of the non-action boost from TBeaming. Which is BS.
It could have been better written, but it's wildly reaching to try to find problems to assert this, and it's highly unhelpful.

It is a boost or barrel roll because that's what the rules and cards say. It is not an action because it doesn't say action, and because the FAQ further clarifies that they are not actions.

Agreed. I deliberately opened a Pandorra's box with my first reply, and I'm regretting it now.
Maybe stop doing it then?
I have no objections when something is genuinely unclear, for that thing to be questioned and brought up for debate.
This is not unclear. It could be MORE clear, but its RAI and its RAW are currently correct.

That's a fair suggestion.

It's an excellent suggestion for you, as it's often your go-to move.
